Renault Clio, Vauxhall Corsa
Mazda RX-7 FD, Mazda RX-8 R3
"I'd still class myself as fairly young so I have no real requirements other than having a lot of fun. My £100K will be spent putting a smile on my face!"
Dodge Viper GTS
"An unbelievably humongous engine, appalling green credentials and running costs that Bill Gates would struggle to justify - what's not to love?
"That massive V10, the gorgeous long nose-short tail body and the immense speed. I'm not too fond of American cars but this is the exception, it's my dream car."
RenaultSport Clio 182 Trophy
Cost: £5,995
Balance: £61,505
Why I chose it: "It's one of the best hot hatches ever made. I love these and it's the one car I'll always be looking at in the classifieds which is why it absolutely had to have a place on this list. I'd use this to commute, go shopping and all for the other mundane tasks I have to do. This one in particular looks like it's been well looked after, it has low mileage and most importantly the dampers have been refurbished recently.
"Oh, and those Turini wheels!"
Mazda RX-7 FD
£5,995 plus £15,000 for modifications
"This would be the car to scare the hell out of me. Firstly, I'd get rid of that vile bodykit (especially the spoiler) and bring the exterior back to standard. Then I'd take out the twin turbocharged twin rotor 13b unit and replace it with a single turbo triple rotor 20b and turn the boost right up; it would be absolutely savage and a hell of a blast to drive... That rotary whine would be sensational!
"I chose this one because it's cheap and as I plan to rip its innards out anyways, I didn't deem it necessary to pick up a good example."
TVR Chimaera 400
Cost: £11,950
Balance: £28,560
Why I chose it: "It's the perfect sports car, surely? V8 powered, gorgeous looks and a noise that will make your knees wobble! I've done a dozen 'Should I buy a TVR' threads in General Gassing and still haven't taken the plunge but I think having £100K to spend would definitely be that final push I'd need!
"This one is in the best colour combination for the Chim (in my opinion) and looks to have been well looked after, although no mention of the chassis and outriggers is a little worrying."
Mercedes-Benz E55 AMG
"I guess I would eventually need to carry several people in comfort over a long distance, in which case I would go for what is probably the best looking E-Class alongside the W124, powered by a monstrous 5.4-litre supercharged V8. I love the round headlamps and the pipes are lovely. What I love most is that to the average person this is just another E-Class but to petrolheads it's a whole lot more!
"This one I've chosen is well priced but the high mileage and potential bork factor is terrifying!"
Lotus Exige S2
"This would be for track days but also the occasional B-road blast. I don't think there is a better choice this side of a Caterham. This is the best colour for the Exige and it just looks mean.
"The only downside is that the engine is a little bland - but I'm sure I wouldn't be thinking that as I tackle Paddock Hill!"
"And I'd spend the balance on fuel, not that it'd get me very far with the rather uneconomical cars I've chosen!"
