Here we are then, the first week of December. Christmas is but a few weeks away, New Year parties are being planned and cars are probably not number one priority for most. Good job PH is here! There's no danger of us slowing down in the last month of the year. As well as details on Ferrari's new V12 and Bond's Aston there are two new hot hatches and a GT3 track test alongside all the other regulars. Enjoy!
A really fun Peugeot hot hatch; rejoice!
It's been a long while since Peugeot have given petrolheads opportunity to get excited by a hot hatch. Fortunately that has changed with the
208 GTI 30th
, a big improvement over the standard car and brilliantly good fun. It faces a newly revised
Polo GTI
in the supermini hot hatch ranks with the Fiesta ST of course never far from anyone's mind. And what of the
Renaultsport Clio
racing version
is super. We all know the
old one
is too. Come on Renault, there are legions of fans waiting...
Enough front-wheel drive for a second. Ford is very proud of its four-wheel drive police cars being the fastest in America (who wouldn't be chuffed?) and there's a wonderful rear-wheel drive and manual Morgan in the classifieds.
Then rear-wheel drive gets rather more grown up. In the final instalment of our Dubai extravaganza, both
Ferrari and McLaren GT3 cars
were tested at the Dubai Autodrome. It's a fascinating comparison, with some intriguing conclusions you may not have expected.
But even that story may have been overshadowed by Ferrari's confirmation of the FXX K, an even faster and track-only version of the LaFerrari. And you thought the P1 GTR was as wild as these hypercars would get...
While we're on cars nobody will be able to buy, Aston Martin showed the DB10 to the world this week. Despite the implication of the name, it will never make production and is simply for Daniel Craig to use in the new James Bond film. Shame.
Back down somewhere near the real world, PH has tested the 450hp 2.0-litre Volvo this week. That's not a mistake either! It previews Volvo's future downsizing tech and bodes very well for the next generation of fast Volvos with fewer cylinders and less capacity.
Pretty damn cool as first cars go
Another diverse few days from the PH staff and members too. Take our two £100K Garages.
Monday's submission
features a TVR, a Porsche, a G-Wagen and a Delta Integrale.
The other
is an austerity special that only uses 10 per cent of the budget!
BMW has featured prominently too, with the M Coupe seemingly on the cusp of classic status and Matt pondering a future four-cylinder M car.
And everything else? Shed has plumped for a classy old Jag, POTW comes from Wales, Carpool comes from America and there's a new Dream Drive from, er, Suffolk. And if you don't set aside some time to watch That Porsche Video and enjoyed the vintage PH conversation thread it's inspired you deserve to be ... dismissed!
