The GT3 Mk 1 was the first new water cooled 911 offering a hard core driving experience that lovers of air cooled models had craved for with the new generation cars. It was effectively a homologation model to allow Porsche to produce their highly effective race cars at the time. A 3.6 litre engine producing 360BHP derived from the GT1 race car, offering over 190mph top speed, limited slip differential, special split rim BBS alloys, larger brakes and adjustable suspension and rear spoiler were just some of the features that set the GT3 apart from its tamer 996 cousins. The comfort version came with climate control and sports seats. This example has since been fitted with recaro seats and full harness seat belts from the clubsport version and has now covered 45,000 miles with full Porsche/ Porsche specialist service history from new. It is widely believed only 308 RHD GT3 Mk1s were produced in total making it considerably rarer than a lot of the coverted air cooled RS cars. With prices of the air cooled motorsport 911s going up by the day, the GT3 Mk1 looks excellent value at the moment.
