Britain may have an increasingly oppressive culture in relation to speeding
but be grateful that you don't live in Finland. Not only is it a bit chilly
sometimes but a hint of success careerwise could result in a right clobbering if
you get done for speeding.
Anssi Vanjoki a top executive was riding his Harley Davidson recently and got
done for speeding. His fine? £71,500! With Finnish speeding fines being means
tested he got hit hard as his earnings were deemed to be over £8 million
(including share options).
Vanjoki is now appealing. The earnings of £8m were in 1999, he's now
claiming that the drop in share price means he's significantly poorer. Bummer...
