Fast circuit near the south coast of England

Part of the Goodwood Estate, the Goodwood circuit is a very fast, reasonably wide circuit, not best suited for novices.

To get the most enjoyment and challenge from the track you need to be travelling fast and you don't want to be making any mistakes as the tyre walls are close to the circuit. Spin off in the middle and you'll end up in a farmer's crop!

Very strict noise controls resulting in a limited number of cars on track at any one time and no noisy cars rarely allowed on.

"Another airfield circuit....."

.....much in the character of Castle Combe.

A real challenge when you can keep the loud pedal in thru Madgwick and up to St. Marys.....eek!!

And the sense of history....

I'd heard that Goodwood was fast and scary, but I have to say that it just felt like the NSX was purpose made for this track - very composed and beautifully balanced everywhere.

"Great circuit but not for loud cars"

Long, challenging circuit with additional appeal of period feel. Noise regulations are a real problem, though, and cars with sports exhausts are unlikely to be able to use full throttle on start/finish straight.

Have done several trackdays here and enjoyed every one. Fast sweeping layout suits my turboed up jap hatch, with some challenging bends and very fast sections.

The downside is the very limited run off that always seems to claim casaulties at eve...

"bloody fast and good fun - a proper challenge for driver and car!"

remember to go flat through Fordwater, but respect Woodcote, St Marys and especially Madgwick, with a bump in the middle!

It is one of those tracks where you can just keep getting faster, and most road cars will meet the noise regs. Enjoy!

Done it in an Xr4x4 and a 400 Griff - but this was before the BIG tyrewalls went up.

Its a fast track and fun to learn on - there are turn-in, apex and exit markings if you can see them, which is a big help as you learn the track

Goodwood was the venue for my first track day earlier this month. Well worth booking some time with an instructor who knows the circuit. 3 out of 30 cars badly damaged that day, so it definitely can bite!

Can be very fast, you need 110% commitment and sensitivity, small run off areas, at least one 'bash' per trackday.
Fantastic when you do a lap just right!
Lovely historical atmosphere.

More a fast car track I feel, its is very very fast & quite scary on a bike. The chicane just before the pits does however give you the opportunity to wang a decent wheelie past the pits....only if you wanted to of course and only till they sling you out...

Doesn't suit my TVR S4C which is tired and wallowy. It's a very fast circuit suiting precision and high speed.
