The new Dashware package from ChaseCam is offered primarily to help racers understand the information their datalogging devices provide, by more easily relating data to their car’s performance as seen from the driver’s seat.
While the practical uses seem evident for track-day fans and amateur racers, we can’t help thinking this package will also encourage naughty street-racing types to post competitive videos on YouTube – especially as it doesn’t cost an arm and a leg to set the system up.
According to ChaseCam, the PC based software lets you take any video and almost any data source, then using premade or customised gauges create a professional looking video with the aforementioned data overlay.
If you’ve got an onboard data source, the software is downloadable for a fee at www.chasecam.com And if you want to produce footage that’s filmed with something better than your mobile phone you might want to check out their BulletCams, too.
Just don’t forget that here in the UK video footage can be used as evidence in a court of law…
