The M-series were not only successful road cars, they also performed very
well on the track. Throughout the seventies and more particular from 1975
onwards, M-series took countless race wins. They gained most success in the
British ProdSport series, where cars of equal price (rather than performance)
were pitted against each other.
In 1974 and 1975 Colin Blower raced a factory backed 3000M. In 1975 Chris
Alford took no less than 22 wins out of 23 races in a 1600 M. The following
years the factory supported three official 3000 Ms for Blower, Rod Gretton and
TVR's sales director Steward Halstead. In 1979 Chris Meek took the CAV-BRSCC
title in Alford's former 1600 M. John Kent joined in a 3000 M while Halstead
swapped his 3000 M for a 3000 S. The pinnacle of the racing success came in 1980
when Blower won the BRDC ProdSports championship with 22 outright race wins.

The last M-series cars were built in late 1979 before being replaced by the
first of the wedge shaped Tasmin series. With hindsight the M-series could be
regarded of as the most important TVRs in the company's early years. They helped
TVR survive the difficult period of the early seventies and contributed to TVR's
reputation as solid and respected sports car manufacturer, with beautiful and
quick road cars and successful race cars.
