This was a one off car built purely for track racing. Externally it looked almost standard apart from a deeper front air dam, and a huge rear spoiler.
However, under the skin it was a different beast. Using a Cosworth Turbo engine from a Ford Touring Car - in full Group A specification - the engine produced almost 500 bhp! All the running gear was also uprated (including many Formula One sourced parts) to cope with the immense power. Weighing less than a standard 'S', this car could accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 3.5 seconds, and from 0 to 100 mph in 7.2 seconds.

The car was raced in the 'Modsport' class by John Kent, who later went on to drive the Speed 12 for TVR. It won it's first event at Macau, despite starting way down the grid. After that it's known to have raced in Scotland for a couple of seasons around 1990/91.

A handful of V8S models were produced with larger engines. These cars were especially ordered. The modified chassis of the later V8S/S4 did cope with the power, although with 275 bhp they were a handful to control.
Tax regulations in Italy severely penalise cars with engines with a capacity of over 2 litres. Like other manufacturers, TVR addressed the issue by blowing a 2 litre engine to give sufficient power. A large hump was required in the bonnet to house the supercharger. This bonnet was later used on the V8S.
A special edition sponsored by Penthouse magazine. But for a few Penthouse logos, this was a standard car.
