The
first roadgoing TVR Tuscan R made its debut on Saturday 31st March
2001 at the Powertour race meeting at Silverstone. Resplendent in TVR
Purple the car is the finished item and no mock-up.
TVR's new found enthusiasm for wind tunnel testing is obvious with
faired in headlamps and a large diffuser at the rear ensuring a
slippery profile at the front and sufficient downforce at the rear.
The
interior of this car was trimmed in dark leather in the same style as
the standard Tuscan Speed 6. Although technically the Cerbera Speed 12
is top of the TVR range, it's expected that several Tuscan R's will
hit the road long before we see any V12 Cerberas mixing it in the
suburbs.
With 400+ bhp and a civilised and relatively spacious interior this
is a true Grand Tourer. Prices depend on specification and range from
£70K to £100K.
Inevitibly the question everyone will be asking is whether the
Tuscan R now has the power and profile to be a 200mph breaker.
