Won't be familiar to everyone but I just read that David Sanborn, a fairly legendary sax player, has died at 78 of prostate cancer.

Notable for being the saxophonist on Young Americans, and also playing for Stevie Wonder, but he released several albums in his own right as well. He was a significant part of my musical life during an earlier phase, and one of the reasons I picked up a sax in the first place (tried to emulate him but never really got there).

I've only just found this thread so a late response, but... I agree that "noteworthy" is MUCH better than the C word, but it would be great if rather than just a name we could include some info about who they were, will save an awful lot of googling smile
