Bonnet and front end look like a Matra Rancho, google shows a softtop version but it doesn't seem like a match.

Well, that's a new one on me......wiki is saying that they were never type approved for sale in the UK, which must make it a rare spot I would guess?

That's correct, Citroën didn't offer them in the UK but a few were supposedly imported privately; I don't recall seeing one in the UK but there are still plenty in use in France.

My initial thought, before reading any of the comments was a VW Thing.

Yes, I stand corrected.

Although to get a point back, I do claim to have spotted the Mehari a few posts earlier

Far left of row 4.... then on the 7th row there's a canvas roofed job which looks like a Citroen Mehari. Right of that row, a few cars from the end, looks like a BMW Neue Klasse E3 saloon.

Cars I find interesting in that photo:
middle of nearest row, Peugeot 304 saloon
3rd row away, that the DS looks quite big compared to cars around it and I guess back then it was!
4th row 2nd from left a Simca 1100?
Skoda and Peugeot 504 along by the fence behind the hut

To be fair, it does appear that you mentioned Mehari. However, it only says 'which looks like a Citroen Mehari. It doesn't say it is a Citroen Mehari biggrinbiggrin

A draw.

Ah bugger... you're right. I will in future adopt the "Boris Johnson" - it doesn't matter if you are right or wrong, just say it with enough confidence....!

Technically it's Citroën Méhari, with a diaeresis and an acute accent on the two respective e characters. Named after a camel, apparently.
