With a sunny public holiday here in Germany I finally got around to the body, and so the conclusion, of my Kyosho Optima Mid re-re build. OOB build plus anti-roll bar kit and the gorgeous Le Mans 240S Motor/ESC combo. This kit is gorgeous, certainly levels up from the majority of Tamiya’s mainly plastic offerings (although the Avante was more like it). Test run soon!

Does look good, are they really that far ahead in quality terms? Tempted!

This looks cool, really like something I had when I was a young kid. Even the pattern of the tyres looks familiar.

I don't suppose anyone knows where I could find out what I had of there is a catalog online or something? This one wasn't a kit, it had a small remote and a setting on the back for slow or fast gearing. I'd love to know what it was.

I tripped up the step and bit my mouth open. My dad took me to toys r us that night and thus the rc arrived. Doubt that trick will work today frown

A ready to run buggy from Toys R Us, I'm going to hazard a guess that it was some sort of Nikko variation.

If you google vintage nikko radio control buggy and look at images you might be able to find it

I had a Taiyo Jet Hopper, which met its demise when I drove it through a puddle and messed the electronics up. Loved that car.

I had a Turbo Panther before any Tamiyas came along!
Looking at it now, its surprising how close it is to my Hotshot looks wise.

I am itching for one of these - I had my name down for the first batch only to be let down and wasn't allocated one

They seem to be easily available now

On anther note, I have finished the roller of my Avante Black which I got last year.

Need to decide if it want to paint it blue and get some original Avante wheels as I am really not a fan of the pink ones then put all the electronics in it

Oh man i had that too, it was proper quick like 25kph or something like that on the fast setting, but it lasted all of 10 minutes before needing a 8 hour charge.

Inspired by Nikko etc cars of old, this was my childhood! (the testarossa something other than Nikko, and the yellow truck a Tandy special, but fun all the same!)

Same here... A good while before my beloved Tamiya Striker came along...

I still have mine. In it's box, still works.

I somehow feel a bit of a failure, had I have applied myself it should by rights be smashed to bits.

It was my first too! I remember mid 80s advertising campaign for 'The Winch', which was the OG winch equipped car. My friend had one and I was v jealous!

https://rctoymemories.com/2014/01/01/matsushiro-wi...

Christmas came around and I got this Nikko version - I seem to recall it didn't have the pace of the matushiro car but it was pretty good - could lift it's own weight vertically using the winch which was on the remote control too, tho manually switched rather than a separate channel. Nostalgia does strange things to ones desires!

A new addition to the fleet recently. Off road RC's & boats are more my thing as I don't have many places locally for fast on road cars so the obvious answer for a new RC was a bigger , faster version of the car I use the least ! An Infraction 6S V2 pictured with its smaller 3S sibling -

And the Mega Truck / Raminator getting some fresh air at the weekend -

Haha , there are a few out there in the real world beyond You Tube. In a word .. Awesome ! It is cumbersome , noisy , slow on the stock engine & relatively maintenance heavy but its heft , character & realism in terms of driving dynamics are like nothing else in the world of RC.

Exactly what I cut my teeth on too. Bought from K-mart when on holiday in Florida. Not massively fast but pretty much indestructible. Happy days biggrin
