This 1962 Omega caught my eye on eBay a couple of months ago. I was bidding but for a combination of reasons missed out and have regretted it since.
Yes it’s got the wrong strap and hands but I liked the classic style and it would have made a good every day watch.
I love this, what's it called?Yes it’s got the wrong strap and hands but I liked the classic style and it would have made a good every day watch.
Omega Deluxe doesn't bring up the results i expected

What a shame! I think it's a beautiful design and probably the first time I've looked at an Omega and wanted it.
Here's another:
Currently up for €250, I think it's gorgeous. I just don't need another steel day/dater with a silver face.
My heart says buy, buy, buy, but I know it could never be a favourite. I think I've reached the stage where acquisitions need to be either stunning, or a cheap bit of fun.
Ho hum, PASS.

My near miss list is legendary. I've passed on a lot of watches including 5711/1a's and 116500ln's, but the really fun ones are the Omega slimline that JFK himself offered me in 1961 as thank you for sorting out some personal issues, Newman's Daytona which I won from him at a game of pool but the poor boy was so devastated I let him keep it for the price of a beer and the last emperor's patek which he gifted to me for introducing him to a Russian/Mandarin translator in the prison camp he was interred in. I later gave it to the translator as who has a need for such things.
Still, it's been a fun life!

Bit of a bargain this one. My head says it has too much patina, but hy heart quite likes the effect.
25 Jewel automatic movement, adjusted to three positions.
Great maker.
Case looks in good shape.
Best of all it comes in at about £85 including shipp (but probably plus 20% VAT)

From a man who "doesn't do" quartz, I think I may have just been converted. Um, I've just had a 'moment'.
That is some seriously sexy seventies swagger. If it wasn't for the price tag, I'd have bought it by now.

Gawsh, that Manhattan might even be better looking than the Senator. Looks like they can be had for £1500 ish. But you're right, that's a lot of money for a non-repairable early quartz that's long past it's best before date. It would be a daft purchase, only a fool...
In unrelated news, my Beta-21 Electroquartz still isn't back from the watchmaker.
