Actually I think Rabea is better than Rob Chapman and so is Danish Pete
I don't think there is anyone at Andertons who isn't better than Rob Chapman.
I've played guitars there a couple of times wink

Any fans of Danish Pete should check out the recent video with the new Les Pauls. I am surprised he could get off the chair after that...

Robin Trower usually pops up in these threads around now.
Robin Trower, who was lauded as 'The New Hendrix' in the early 70's, regularly appeared in Best Guitarist polls, and is arguably most famous as a guitarist who releases guitar-based albums? Under-rated?
Time and Emotion is a superb album, if only to hear what a great voice he's got.

the opening bars to "Phantom Of The Opera" needs to be the theme tune to F1 shows.
It used to be the music to a Lucozade advert starring Daley Thompson back in the mid-80s... in fact that was the first time I'd ever heard Maiden haha

Not the most underrated of all time, but certainly underrated in my opinion; Alberto Barrero

https://youtu.be/1pbgKrDzprA

He’s released a couple of online albums but seems to spend most of him time as a demo artist for various guitar/amp/pedal manufacturers (which is how I discovered him).

Not under rated in Spanish circles but generally by guitarists Paco de Lucia is vastly underrated!

Eric Roach was an awesome guitarist who never got the credit he deserved.

Loved his playing with Zappa, and to a lesser extent his solo albums and his work with Bozzio in Missing Persons. Not quite sure why he joined Duran Duran. Women & money (in that order), I imagine.

Agree with all of that TBH.

This is a guitarist thread, but I love Bozzio's playing too, crazy that he's one of the very best out there IMO, yet also only the 2nd best to have played for Zappa IMO.

Turning this on it's head, in the sense of punting a young guitarist who no one's ever heard of, I'm digging Altin Gun, a Dutch band who take Turkish disco & folk songs & rearrange them into psychedelic rock. So far, so niche but this lot are making inroads generally.

They have a British guitarist, Ben Rider who I wouldn't suggest is any great technician but who does have an ear for the right line to a given song & he loves a bit of wah & that's always alright with me.

Nowhere near the anything of all time but, whatever, a decent guitarist is a decent guitarist, right?

Strange, never heard or seen Robin sing, I think you maybe mean Jim Dewar the bass player who does have a great voice, he was also a member of Stone The Crows with Maggie Bell.

It would be even stranger if it was Jim Dewar. He died almost 20 years ago, 15 years before T&E was released. Trower sang & played bass on the entire album.

Not sure he was under rated but, maybe under appreciated at the time, the late great Randy Rhodes has to be well up there
