was anyone else slightly disappointed with the TVR Cerbera
they seem to spend a lot of money on pointless things.
The wheels for example didn't need anything other than a good clean but they went to the bother of spraying them black
Edd China is a mechanical genius but some of the decisions he make with regards to paint colours, styling and interiors are terrible.
Yep, the wheels looked hideous but I suppose it adds more interest to the program if there is a significant visual change to the vehicle for the before/after shots. Either way, a full chassis change was a serious undertaking, quite enjoyed the episode.they seem to spend a lot of money on pointless things.

Yep I've had two tvr's and engine aside on ajps and speed sixes he did an awesome job making that a goog purchase for someone.
A lot of people don't realise just how bad those chassis can get in the places you can't see.
I quite liked the wheels, anthracite may have looked a little better though.

Impressive thread resurrection there - did someone say 'AppleJuice' three times on Halloween night?
I have seen a few of these on quest over the last few weeks, the Boxster bought for £1k because it had a dodgy auto gearbox it wasn't dodgy, Ed changed the gearbox oil and filter and it was fine, and a Bentley that had a respray and the leather tidied up.The annoying thing with WD (and Car SOS) is that yes it's fine to do something similar if you know what you're doing, have a fully kitted out garage and access to anything you haven't got. But if you tried it yourself it's probably going to be a money pit.
Saw what was probably one of the first U.S based shows with Edd still on the spanners.
Mike bought a Pontiac GTO from Chicago and Edd did his usual excellent work on loads of stuff (new rad and fans, waterpump, installing A/C, fixing exhaust, etc.) whilst Mike fked off to get the steering pump reconditioned.
The car, originally being a Cali car, should have sold for >$35k (it was back in Cali), but Mike accepted $32k ('old yer 'aaand aaaht!') 'cause he's a tt, and he should have advertised it for $38k rather than at the price he actually wanted for it.
I've not seen the newer shows with Ant Anstead yet, but I recall from other shows Ant was involved in that he's also very good with the spanners and fabrication.

Ant's definitely holding his own but IMO Mike could be dispensed with as he's already filmed everything he will ever say or do in the show and they could just cut together the old bits and no-one would notice the difference.Mike Brewer Bullst Bingo Card:
- Lifts up its skirts and just goes
- Make the deal a bit sweeter
- Hot to trot
- WOW
- It looks like they've just taken the cellophane off it
- I'm good at sandblasting
PS. I've watched the whole new series and it can be summed up as follows - engine out, engine out, engine out, engine out, oil leak, oil leak, another oil leak, clutch, clutch, another clutch, yet another clutch, main seal, main seal again, bit of brakes, bit of suspension, turbo rebuild, another turbo rebuild, dents, rodent droppings. Oh, and Ant's been reading the online critics as he addresses the 'never uses a torque wrench' issue. Production values are also in the toilet with loads of errors, fluffed words and pieces to the wrong camera that could have been edited out or been re-shot being left in.
Plus, IIRC that wasn't the 'first ever Capri' on WD (unless Mike intentionally wants to erase Ed and the memory of the rattle-can Capri from history).

Fat Mike took some st on Twitter about that, 'apparently' he said "the first Capri we've done in the US" which would be a slightly odd thing to say as they weren't exactly thick on the ground in the US and the director cut the end of his sentence off. I haven't seen it yet to judge how likely true that is.
One thing to do now with the repeats on Quest is to look up the cars on the DVLA MOT history site. I looked up the black Alfasud (from 2014 or 15) a few weeks ago when it was on over Christmas. It failed the MOT first time every year after, passed second time the same day or within the week. It's currently SORN. Some of the fails and advisory notes were for the handbrake ratchet and a leak on the exhaust (which was a new stainless one fitted in the show) and emissions.

Surely it would have been easier to source Euro spec bumpers ? Also it probably needed lowering a bit after losing all that weight.
It was a strange choice of car considering there must be about 12 of them in the US and most of the UK ones now will be garage queens. It is pretty obvious that Mike's now calling the shots as far as car choice is concerned and either dementia is setting in or he has ran out of ideas as half the cars in this series have been featured before, albeit some are different generation/model variants. I miss the occasional off-the-wall Edd-influenced choice like the Bond Bug or the Amphicar (although the AMC Pacer was a totally dropped ball). I can't imagine Ant wanting to work on a bubble car, for example.I'm sure the show could happily soldier on for a few more series like this, but its heyday of the £1k Boxster and the Lamborghini Uracco are well in the past.

Ant does some nice fabrication and, although it would have been easier to buy 'proper' bumpers, I enjoyed that bit of the episode.
I now don't watch it live and just put it on later so I can ff through the Brewer shopping expeditions. It's lost a bit of its buzz for me. I like the 2.8 Capri, but the one they had didn't grab me. I'm a little bored with gasket replacement.

Personally, my enthusiasm for the show waned when the majority of the vehicles started being US cars. The whole appeal of the show was showing work that could be carried out by anyone with 'average' mechanical knowledge on readily available and 'classic' vehicles.
Their insistence in giving MB ever increasing physical roles in the vehicles 'refurbishment' also reeks of desperation to justify his long passed existence on the show. The show could do without and his usual " 'old out yer 'and!" bks easily.

That's the weird thing about this series - Mike seems to have gone out of his way to find typically un-American cars in America, which I think has led to some reasonably interesting cars getting some pretty uninteresting work done to them, followed by some comical and contrived attempts to sell them on because yanks don't share the same level of enthusiasm for them.Taff107 said:

I think they've tried to return to that in this series, but missed the target a bit as nearly every job seems to be 'two-post-lift, engine out' one, or easy DIY if you have access to a pipe bender.Taff107 said:

Agreed, but there's going to be no show without Punch.Edited by Evercross on Tuesday 8th January 17:24
