This is part of what people like me have been trying to say.

The GOP has abandoned America. It's abandoned the constitution. It's all for Trump.

They aren't going to play by any established rules. They've bought the Supreme Court, they've bought the lower courts. They control the media. They run roughshod over Democrats at every chance.

What makes any of you think they'll let Trump actually get punished is beyond me. This is the reality.
I hear what you are saying but its really not as bad as the media have made out. Yes, the GOP, in some states, has run amok and we are seeing the results of things like the abortion ban. The imposition of religious rules is something that a lot of Americans are dead against, and its being reflected in some of the districts senate races. Its a story that seems to have little interest at the moment, but the GOP continues to lose ground in some key states and cities. I think its Alabama, but my Google skills have abandoned me for the moment, where a few small shifts are actually looking like their senate will turn blue! Again, what we arent seeing is the emergence of young, motivated and effective politicians in key areas - and a lot of them are black. Its astonishing to see the passion they have for their communities. Bring it on is what I say.

Anyway, I digress. It might be seen that the GOP has bought the courts right the way to the top and that means they can do anything. But again, its not quite as clear cut as that and even the so-called wins for the GOP recently, such as Roe v Wade, was something that was set-up decades ago as a plan of action and only really picked up momentum in the last decade. It takes that long to get things done.

The electorate here in the US is dramatically changing too. People are less likely to be Republicans now and Democrats are the growing party. The old boomers are dying off and decisions such as anti-abortion are turning women off too, and lets not even mention the predominantly black areas and cities! Nah, its not all roses for the GOP and they have a massive issue ahead. But of course grifters have to grift and they just cant stop. From Trump and his $1bn deal with the oil companies to other shallow and frankly bizarre attempts, greed will be their downfall. We are starting to see it and it will only build.

Trump is a cult - and people want to believe it because they are disconnected from the political process. They feel left behind and sold out by their politicians, so want a change. It doesnt bother them that hes an idiot or a crook or anything else - they just want to tear down the politicial establishment. The problem is that Trump might be a crook and it might even get proven in court (well it already has, but you get my point), but a lot of people dont care. They believe that all politicians are crooks anyway, so does it matter that there is another one? But this cult is dying.

The recent rally in NJ where the press kept reporting it was 100,000 people attending it. Media reports didnt show the extent of it and it was left to the smaller outlets to show the real truth. Maybe 30,000 at a push and thousands walked away even before Trump had finished his rambling sermon. He is simply not pulling the numbers he claims and they are getting smaller. He is desperate and its showing. Making claims that he's winning in NJ (he isnt) and that Biden is polling the worst Dem ever (he isnt) or that 100,000 people turned up to the beach to hear Trump (they didnt). Its all lies and its continued to the media. Been said many times before, but the media NEEDS Trump. Its good for ratings and its good to keep the advertising rates up, got to keep those sweet dollars rolling.

So yeah, it might look bad, but I remain optimistic overall. Maybe Trump wins, but he is going ot be a lame duck president. Nothing will pass (again) and he will bounce from crisis to crisis and the media cutting him apart. Ultimately the GOP will throw him to the wolves and we might return to some sort of normality again. This is the worse case scenario of course, but its not going to be the end of the world though.

I'm reminded trump in March said he would debate Biden anytime, anyplace and didn't care who hosted it
Should throw that back to those excusing him already

Hannity last night claiming it wouldn't be a fair debate because Biden would be on stimulants.

Lol, even Hannity is doing the trump tell, accusing others of doing what trump does. But then Hannity needs the excuses, especially for trump, who can't even stay awake in his own trial.
https://twitter.com/i/status/1790919885960442207

LOL trying to claim Biden agreed to debate trump, so he doesn't have to debate trump - same tell again
https://twitter.com/i/status/1790920621167428094

We know Hannity is in touch regularly with trump. We know this week that Hannity even knew all about the hush money payments and offered advice on how to handle the media stories, but then thats not surprising as he was in touch with trump though his election stealing attempts, his insurrection attempt etc

Maggie Habberman of NYT has been exposed as generally a trump positive story pusher, because she gets access to trump stories first that way.

Cohens testimony, backed by test messages shown at the same time, shows she was collaborating with Michael Cohen to use her reporting to promote trump’s lies about Daniels

She got a pulitzer for her reporting on trump... whilst she got her stories by flattering trump and being prepared to repeat his lies just to get her insider scoops - which she saved for her book!

…..However, like most who get invited into the Trump “inner circle of trust”, things turn out badly and the back stab is just a matter of time.

With the knife stuck in, Trump then invents a crude & puerile nickname for you and then the angry and resentful T.S rant :

Justice Thomas lawyers are being asked for proof Thomas paid back the loan for his expensive RV

Anthony Welters, a wealthy health care executive and the justice's personal friend, loaned $267,000 to Thomas in 1999 to buy the RV. Welters provided some documents last year showing Thomas had paid back some of the interest, and indicated the loan may have been forgiven in 2008.

Thomas didn't disclose it on his financial disclosure

In court with Trump today: Lauren Boebert, Matt Gaetz.

The best people biggrin

What Gaetz means is he's desperate for that pardon...

Remember, Boebert doesn’t show up for her son’s criminal court dates where he says he can’t afford a lawyer, but can fly to NY to attend trumps...

Claim that trump is getting his members of Congress to violate the gag order in the Manhaton his behalf is that the Constitution gives Members of Congress “immunity” for “legitimate legislative acts” to avoid testifying in court proceedings under the Speech or Debate Clause. If an evidentiary hearing were to be held on whether trump “directed them,” they would assert constitutional immunity and claim they were doing “legislative fact-finding” which would be total bs but cause delay.

trump broke his gag order before court, attacking one of the prosecutors, Colangelo
https://twitter.com/i/status/1791097552206471558

and again claimed he had no supporters there because of the strong security, of which there is none
https://twitter.com/i/status/1791096761068798270

but never mind because he has lots of tame congress people there to spread his lies for him, break the gag order

Comer has pushed the House Oversight Committee Garland contempt hearing from 11am today to 8pm, to allow time for GOP members to speak outside trumps trial. trump has to have his cheerleaders/gag order breakers present

Apparently it's Gaetz, Luna and Biggs turn today, and GOP don't have enough members in majority...

Garland has ignored their subpoena, something many GOP members did with the Jan 6 Committee, including Kim Jordon

Edited by Byker28i on Thursday 16th May 06:53
Asa I said before the Dems need to get on the offensive, have Jan 6th committee people attend and give press conferences, E Jean Carroll, unpaid contractors, Trump U victims etc.. Hit back and hit hard.

I suspect that's it's mainly to provide competing airtime with cohen's reported testimony.

"Corrupt judge, appealing ruling, unconstitutional, weaponised justice system" narrative incoming....

Oh, she is soooo classy. Where would you start with that hateful human, but the good news is that she is polling very poorly in her district, not forgetting that she moved to a different district because she was doing so badly! It seems she is even trailing in that district with her Democrat opposition doing better - in a deeply Republican area. She's winning so much - kicked out of her previous district and losing the new one, so much winning.
