This deer was a few yards down the road from my house.

What the fk has done this to it?

Looks like a shark took the back off it.

I can't think what could have done this, i wonder could it have been a person has killed it and taken the meat and then dumped its front body by the road side?

Seriously weird if you ask me.

Oh dear.

If someone has done that then it's pretty awful tossing it back in the road.

Probably hit by a vehicle and someone has taken the rear as roadkill , or a pack of hounds .

Standing around taking photos instead of helping that poor animal. You’re a monster.

most of the decent meat is missing
probably a poacher killed it and dumped the not needed bit,

Either you’ve got massive feet or that is a very small deer

I’m going tiny deer. Hit and likely then squashed.

Crows and magpies will have scavenged it and maybe a fox getting the bigger bits.

If that was a full grown stag I’d be a bit more on the strange wagon.

I came across something worse once.... a deer's head (complete and uninjured) with only a full backbone intact left connected at the head. Very gruesome and I wondered what had caused it. As it was about 20feet from a railway line I decided it had been hit by a train and this part happened to land on the adjacent path where I found it.

I suspect the OP's deer has simply been hit by a car and impact has dismembered it. The energy involved in such collisions is huge. I recall reading about someone jumping in front of a through train in a station and the dismembered body parts killed and injured several people on the platform.

Yes, i should have said its a muntjac dear so not a massive great thing.

I think its got to be a poacher thats dumped it, pikies use this bit of road as a rat run down to their lair so perhaps one has been out shooting, took the meat end and chucked it out.

Do people eat these? i suppose they might do.

Just seemed a seriously bizaree corpse, i have never seen one effectively cut in half like that.

People don’t eat enough of them. Everyone’s gone soft and don’t eat roadkill or wild meat anymore apart from a few. Most of it is good lean meat as well.

Driving around Norfolk a few years back I couldn’t believe seeing so many dead animals on the road side that haven’t been dealt with.
I suppose people don’t know how to deal with it anymore.

30 years ago people used to bring such things into the (rural) pub I worked at.
All of us in the kitchen knew how to hang then skin and prepare deer, rabbit, pheasant and anything else that was brought into us.

It all ended up on the menu, certainly wasn't much left at the side of the roads nearby lol
