I woke up this morning to my phone buzzing from a call from ‘The Dutchman’ who has taken on the challenge of driving to Italy to claim a race day Paddock Club pass!
Absolutely fantastic and hope the blind date goes well!!
Yes, this is brilliant.
For all the bickering that happens here, it's lovely to see some we also have some fantastic good-will and generosity!

How great is it to see actual gravel traps rather than acres of tarmac runoff with a natural deterrent built in for anyone running wide.

Qualifying will be exciting as they try to push to the limit, one mistake and your session could be over rather than shake it off and try again.
Yes, it's good to be back in Europe smile
Yes, the gravel traps have made a technical and difficult circuit into one with real jeopardy.
However, watching the F3 boys in their sprint race, that's three safety cars due to cars getting beached in the gravel. Fingers crossed that doesn't happen for the F1 race.

An incredibly generous offer indeed, how I wish I was free but some lucky person will have the time of their lives!

I’m impressed at the presentation. If you go with Ferrari the passes just come all jumbled up in an envelope.

Thanks for the images, M1K3. More please.

I was surprised at Ferrari not draping their car, with its updates, in a tarpaulin and smoke. The Sky cameras were all over it.

The show and tell rules dictate that the cars have to be presented in the pit lane with updates with no attempts at obfuscation I believe so no point covering it up when it's already been photoed to an inch of its life.

Awesome, well done and glad to see a ticket like that not go to waste. You’re a good sport Sir. beer

(Definitely the sort of thing I’d have done in my younger single days two decades ago, I’d have been in the car on the way to Folkestone half an hour after that first post about the spare ticket!)

I actually had a look at flights from Perth but realised it would be a VERY expensive weekend and I'd probably arrive half way through the race! biggrin

Yep, they have to park a car in the pit lane for an hour before P1, for all the VIPs, journalists, photographers, and the other teams’ designers to have a good look around! If the cars are different, they have to show the one with the updates.

I know it's not what you meant, but 33/1 for WDC or 40/1 for LeClerc not looking so mad. 125/1 for Sainz.

(I can but hope we have a contest)

Thanks for that.

I had a press pass at Le Mans and wandered up and down the pitlane, going into the various pits, and taking photos of the various cars. When I tried to enter the Ferrari pits, they went berserk. I was surrounded and hustled away. A bit harsh. I'd just eaten lasagna as well.

I decided to go all petty and then lurked near their pits, suddenly turning to face them with my camera to my eye. In the end they gave up trying to obstruct me. However, I didn't take any photos of their cars individually and didn't include in the published article any track or pitlane image that included a Ferrari. Easy enough, as I was following TVR.

Old man trying a little too hard around the last corner. Not the AM I would have bet on binning it this session. Probably a new gearbox to fit before qualifying.

Edit: loads of new bits on the back of that car as well, do they have sufficient spares or will they have to revert back to the old spec.

Yep just trying a little bit too much - but maybe more a commentary on the place they're at right now. Not where they would like to be.

The F1TV commentators are speculating that there’s a gusty crosswind around that corner which is catching them out - and it’s forecast to be even windier this afternoon for the qualifying session. We could see a load of good laps ruined at the last corner.

Well that’ll be that then, many last soft runs curtailed by Perez.
