Well I love driving mine. No more issues since they fixed the control module problem.

Day to day driving, I bet it really won't feel like a power downgrade unless she thrashes the 330d everywhere. I really don't miss my E350d - unless you were really trying, the Born and ID3's responsiveness makes them effortlessly quick. Obviously they're not quick in the EV scheme of things, but compared to normal ICE cars, really are all you need up to 70mph or so.

Handle pretty tidily too for what they are.

Really enjoyed driving mine for the first three months.. although my wife has basically stolen it off me. It's a warm hatch really, but so much more responsive than anything else I've driven. The actual cost of the car is about halved due to the fuel cost savings, so that's a bonus.

Not seen a terrible review of the car, and it just won the "best EV for under £40k" in Autocar.

Just placed the order for the Cupra Born 58kw V2 in Aurora Blue on a lease deal, £390 a month for 12k miles on a 1+36 deal.

Happy with that.

That's the same spec as ours, colour looks great when the sun's out and it's clean biggrin

I'm paying £405/month after tax on a 3 yr SS with 14k miles per annum. We got it last March and it's done just under 19k trouble free miles now. Good little allrounder.

Late to the thread, so please excuse me.

Like the look of these, what’s the real range like if I bought the higher spec?

Thanks smile

If you mean the big battery (77 thingies?) then on a motorway journey at 70, 240 in winter and I suspect 300 in summer. A good chunk better if you don't exceed 50

Ours turned up yesterday from Select Car Leasing

Guy drove it down from Birmingham which was a bit strange, I just assumed it would be driven locally or on a flatbed for that distance but there we are. He had no idea how he was getting back either, we live 3 miles from the nearest train station and there are no pathways so you can't walk it. Ended up running for a bus!

Anyway, very impressed so far!

Our plan is to use it as our main car for almost all journeys considering its £4 for a full charge on Ovo Charge Anytime, although we need to wait until June 1st for this but a full charge on the current tariff is about £14 so still a lot cheaper than ICE.

Infotainment will get some getting used to, seemed a small lag but both of us seemed to use it fine and no issue with the steering wheel buttons being pressed accidently, never even experienced this.

Very disconcerting driving without engine noise but I guess you get used to this. Without a home charger on a cheap tariff, we would not even have entertained this but at the moment, we can get a brand new car for about £200pm if we offset fuel savings into the cost.

I do like these and there are a few at work. Unfortunately they worked out £100 more a month than the MG4 I ended up with on a works salary sacrifice scheme.

They are undoubtedly a nice EV. We had a look at one but wanted the bigger 77kWh battery version to be able to do at least 200 miles in the Winter, but it only has 4 seats FFS!

For less than the 58kWh V1, we found a 87kWh Nissan Aryia Advance which, whilst an overly large and inefficient SUV, can at least seat 5...

Ah yes the 4 seat nonsense. We are ok with it fortunately. I assume there's a max gross weight limit for the platform

I believe so. Funny how the 2nd largest car manufacture in the world, that orginated the hot hatch, actually signed off an EV that in its top configuarion, can only seat 4 people and yet the much cheaper MG4 with a 77kWh battery can seat 5.

Obviously it's because MG are subsidised by the Chinese state and want to steal all our data, and not because VW are a bit crap.

Roll on import tariffs on Chinese EVs. That'll learn 'em.

The Civic Type R does the same, 4 seats only.

Bit of a tangent, but the Born VZ seems to be getting pretty good reviews:

I'm sure I heard (perhaps from the dealer) that the 77Kwh version will soon be 5 seats.

The V3s i’m looking at on ebay have 3 seatbelts in the back, is it model dependent?

Edit
I see now, 58kwh 5 seats, 77kwh 4..

My 58Kwh V3 will soon be going back after having it for ~9.5 months and 9,000 miles. I was sceptical to begin with (about the car, rather than having an EV) but ended up really enjoying it.

I’d have another - but ideally a 77Kwh…

58 KWh E boost v2 in grey - I am too tight to pay 15 quid extra a month for other colours.

Love mine, 11k miles in just under 6 months and would recommend one. Much nicer to drive and sit in than my previous Kia E niro, Cupra is more ‘premium’ in feel.

Via a Sal sac scheme, but would I lease one without the tax breaks? Nope, too expensive but that’s the same for all EV’s in my opinion.

Pros:
- quick and in Cupra mode, very nice to drive
- comfy inside, 3 hr drives no problem
- nice stereo despite only having two speakers
- wife loves the car
- reversing camera is excellent, I’m awful at parking but this makes it easy

Downsides:
- the enormous windscreen pillar compromises vision to a massive degree. Need to do a double take and head shuffle when pulling out of junctions
- laggy screen though it’s not as bad as people make out
- economy when it’s below 12 degrees isn’t as good as the Niro was, although it’s ok once it’s warmer

The 200-230 mile range isn’t a big issue for me, as I only tend to 200 mile plus journeys once or twice a month.

Happy to answer any questions about the car.

Your car has only two speakers? I don't know how you cope. My car has 18 speakers and that isn't enough for me. I'm going to make sure my next car has at least 30 speakers.
