What agreat looking thing. A friend built a Caterham a couple of years ago and it's an itch I've always wanted to scratch. Being an MX5 fan, the open top driving is something that never gets tired.
Thanks, yea I’m completely converted, I don’t think I could go back to having a fun/track car with a roof!

Yea now I own the car and have started working on it myself, I completely get the appeal of building one, I think I will have to buy another in a few years to build when my son is a bit older and can get involved

A couple more little bits off the never ending list of "tweaks"

I removed the metal hood sticks, I have a half hood so I have never used the full hood ever, so I thought I might as well remove them and save a bit of weight and noise (I'm pretty sure they clacked about a bit over bumps). I would like to get a "no hood sticks" specific carbon boot cover at some point, but in the meantime I used a bit of PVC pipe bent into shape to keep the current cover tight.

old hood sticks off.

PVC pipe on!

Also, I had previously secured the drivers floor mat with Velcro strips, but the adhesive melted on the last track day and caused a bit of a mess! So this time round I have fitted grip tape to the whole footwell, which seems be much better at holding the matt in place. I also put some grip tape on the little ledge bellow the pedals as my heels usually rest there and sometimes it gets slippery. I fitted a strip of grip tape to the throttle also so see if that feels better.

hopefully next week I will have time to stick the Castrol SRF in the brakes and fit the crotch strap for the harness.

Like the grip tape idea.

The throttle pic reminded me of the joy of 'drive by big toe' that you do when you take the shoes that don't fit off.

Separately how do you find the heel and toe'ing btw. You still have straight pedals so I'm assuming ok?

Cheers! Yes heel and toe is good, I have adjusted the pedals to get them right, fitted a small Extention to the throttle pedal and fitted the Caterham racing brake pedal which makes it easier!

Yea I have, only problem is I have adjusted the throttle and brake to get it spot on for heel and toe, and removing the rubber bits would mean adjusting the brake again, but I will see if I can do it when I next take the lid off the pedal box again I think!

That is fantastic.

Done many laps in an R300 (never brave enough to try one on the road) and IMO driving just doesn't get any better.

Thanks, yes fully agree’d, I bought the car on a but if a whim originally, to check it off the list and it was the only thing I could fit on the garage. But I’m converted! There really isn’t much like it! Especially on track, amazing fun.

Probably looking to get something like this myself and get back into a few summer trackdays at Donnington, Blyton and cadwell, not massively far for a road drive to/from. Wouldn't see myself using it through winter etc but I bet it's a fun drive on a nice day. Once did the over limits drift day at Millbrook in something similar and really enjoyed it.
