Hi all
My battery slowly died over the winter (Despite it being on a trickle charger) so new battery bought and fitted yesterday.
For some reason my door locking does not work, also my hazard lights dont work.
I have checked the fuse and all seems ok.
I have taken all the fuses out and checked them and they all seem fine.
Checked the door switches and reset the alarm but nothing.
This is on both the key fob (Lights flash when pressing the fob) and the button on top of the door opening knob.
Both indicators work ok.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Double checked fuse 6 and it is fine (15A) when i put it back in i can hear a single click from under the dash.
Still no Hazards or door locking.

I have pushed in both door switches and tried to lock the doors but still nothing.

It all seems to lead to the fuse but this is good (I did change it just to double check)

Any ideas??
Cheers
Andy

Regarding the hazards maybe check the relays have not been disturbed in the fusebox.
If you were only working near the battery just double check all the connections look ok.
Which Alarm does the car have?
Maybe try a battery disconnect for a minute to see if it comes back to life, you may gave tried this but just try a couple of times.

When you say the hazards are not working are you actually referring to the hazards via the hazard switch or the indication that the doors are locked/unlocked as these are two different circuits.

The door locking is not simple, initially pulses are sent from the alarm/immobiliser to the door lock/unlock module ( sometimes called the door lock relay)

HI Guys
Thanks for the replies.
So the battery has been moved into the boot at some point.
Not sure what alarm we have.
Hazards do not work when pressing the hazard button but indicators work and when you press the alarm to lock/unlock the hazards flash x3 times, so independently they work just not on the hazard switch.

I have tried disconnecting the battery leaving it then re connecting it again. I read somewhere that i am supposed to press the alarm fob 3 times after i have reconnected the battery back up? can anyone confirm this?

When i take the fuse out and put it back in i can hear a slight clik from under the dash (I am amusing this is good as it shows some power getting through somewhere)
I will try the battery off again to see if that helps.
Any other suggestions would be greatly received.
Cheers
Andy

Not sure, but what about the 100A fuse?
Is that what you meant when you said you’d replaced?

Hazards flashing x3 when locking or unlocking means something has triggered an alarm doesn't it?

My Chimaera flashes once only.

I changed the fuse for the hazards (fuse 6) but also checked the other fuses as i am aware its not always fuse 6.

Just an update as i had some time yesterday to look at it.
In addition to the doors not locking and the hazards not working on the hazard switch: the interior light does not come on (not sure if this ever worked!) and the reversing lights do not work!

Yesterday i checked the door switches and cleaned them up and they are all good.
I tried to look behind the fuse board yesterday but cant really get behind it to have a look.
What i did see was it seemed there was a large socket on the back of the fuse board running across the fuses so i was wondering if this socket carried the wires for a few fuses? like the hazards, locking and reversing light??

Anyone any ideas??

I don't think you have said what year car you have which may make a difference.
The reason I ask is you mention a 'Large socket' which confuses me as most Chim fuseboxes I know have 11 largish connectors (+other connections).

Hi Steve
Its a 1997.
I will say at some point the battery has been moved into the boot so i would imagine the fuse box etc has been played with.

The large electrical socket i mentioned is on the back of the fuse board (I only managed to tilt it up about an 2 inches) it seemed to run sideways along x3 ish fuses around the fuses that are my faults.
I think my next move is to try and take the fuse board off and check the back but i am not sure if this is possible?

Had a few hours today and took the dash off, one of the relays was loose!!
Pushed it in and hay presto the central locking started to work from the remote!!!
I had to WD40 the passenger side to work 100% but that is now working.

So i now have the Hazards not working on the switch the interior light and the reversing lights not coming on.
Any ideas??

I do have a side issue with the wipers but will get to that next!!

Do you have my circuit diagrams?
If not PM me as they may help you understand that this is likely not one problem but multiple.
