My Allroad was in for a service today - all ok there - and also had a temporary fix to the squeaky suspension noise I get in anything higher than the second-lowest ride height.

The list of advisories though is solid, and I hope to get the work done in December, eek!

Injector cylinder 2 leaking
Turbo waste gate arm is beginning to leak
Cam cover gaskets beginning to weep
Replace rear bump stops and upper shock mounts
NSR light level sensor linkage is seized
Centre exhaust clamp corroded
OSF lower rear suspension arm bushes perishing
... and another four or five lines!

mileage 135,500

My Audi warranty price per year (2016 model A6) has increased from £550 pa to £800 +

One assumes these are non negotiable numbers?

^^^ similar miles to mine, that is quite a list to work through though!! My front left suspension is now creaking, all the arms are replaced, so I think it is the shock assembly itself! Aerosus has none in stock, but I did find a good used one on ebay, however I need to ascertain if the front shock assemblies are not L & R specific. Aerosus indicates that they aren't. But I need to clarify part numbers before going any further with this plan.....

If I remember, I'll ask tomorrow (about L-R specific) when hopefully I'll get the quote back.

It's cheaper and less hassle than changing cars, and if I was buying my car in 15,000 miles time (I'd look for a replacement at 150K miles I think), I'd be fine with seeing the paperwork to say all this work's been done.

Aerosus seem to have them back in stock now, but it does state that they are not R & L specific.

Just came across this thread, I’ll be trying the tip to stop the squeaky rear suspension at high lift, ours does that too!

We’ve been running our Oolong grey with body colour arches etc 14 plate for 5 years now, they are fantastic machines. Ours was specced up with most of the goodies the 15’ facelift got so we think it may have been a dealer specced car initially.

It’s just been into Audi for a service at 73k miles and nothing untoward to report, second transmission oil change done, still running smooth.

It mainly gets used as a typical family ‘big’ car with occasional boat towing and beach launching duties.

Our GPS signal has packed in, the car thinks we are in the middle of the Atlantic most of the time. Anyone have a fix for that? Not worth asking dealer to fix is nav isn’t that great anyway now it’s out of date.

Nice car!

I had the car's suspension squeak sorted temporarily when it was in for its service and would be interested to know how long that would last for, but it's getting sorted properly in a couple of weeks when it goes in for a few bits.

Based on how long my car’s squeak was cured for by the dealer, not long laugh It is still better than it was after nearly 10k miles though, and it’s not bad enough for me to try to do it myself.

Popped to Chipping Campden yesterday for the Christmas fair and saw four A6 Allroads parked in the closed area. A very affluent Cotswold car it seems.

Had a decent dump of snow yesterday. My wife couldn't get her Yeti off the drive (perhaps something to do with me not having put the winter tyres on it yet...) but with my recently fitted Goodyear Vector 3 all-seasons tyres the Allroad was just great.

Doesn't look like that much snow in the photo but it was the first chance I had to stop somewhere out of the way:

Nice pic!

Mine's in today for an overnight stay. Planning on keeping it until at least 150,000 miles then the crib sheet from the work being done today and tomorrow should make for a very reassured next owner!

Currently midway through an MMI update on my C7 to install ApplePlay and maps updates etc.
(sat bored in the car right now!)

Also to query - I have noticed my puddle lights on the door handles are playing up. Weirdly the O/Rear, and the N/S front don't work, the O/S front and N/S rear do !

Thoughts?

I was able to sort my A6 Avant rear suspension squeaks. It's not an Allroad, but has adaptive air so I can raise the car about 2 inches higher than the comfort position, and easily reach under the wheel arches to get to the top of the struts. A nice big pot of red rubber grease (about £6), a screwdriver and a bit of wiggling allowed me to slide down the rubber bump stops, give them a good clean of the white deposits found there, dab on a nice big bob of grease and back into position again. Took about 5 mins per side.

Not had a peep for about 3000 miles now, I did it before we drove to the South of France and back in the summer. As my car is well out of warranty, it was a welcome, easy fix.

puddle lights on the door handles
The what? I didn't realise any A6s had them and mine doesn't seem to. I had them on a 5-series previously and was surprised they weren't on the Audi. Didn't spot them on the options list in the brochure either; do they come as part of a pack?

ETA: I am obviously blind; the Lighting package was a £250 option when I specced my first Allroad in 2016 and I must have missed or ignored it. It's not the full ambient lighting pack but does include extra lights inside and outside. I don't miss the interior lights particularly but I do notice the lack of door handle lights. Hey, at least I get puddle lights in the doors so I can see what I've just stepped in...

I have this option on mine too, but the passenger front door handle light has stopped working, think the LED bulb is gone? Looks a bit of a faff to change them too according to Youtube videos. Might be a job for the summer! lol

The Allroad went in on Monday, but due to a part being needed last minute, then an oil leak on the test drive, the car stayed in until Thurs. All good now, nice to have the car back, and the expensive bits done!

Rare Allroad alert... C6 with supercharged 3.0 V6. I'm not really sure what the person at Audi UK was thinking when they placed the order for it at the back end of 2009, only 30 ish UK Allroads ever received this 290bhp petrol engine (detuned from the S4/S5 and several other VAG cars) and they stayed away from the option boxes. Dealer photo 2 years ago:

It had clearly been well used by its previous owner of 10 years, with crayon on the headlining and all manner of family grot in the crevices. However, it had full Audi SH and was riding on 'A0' code dealer-supplied tyres, with retrofit OEM tow bar, etc and the paperwork exposed the previous owner to live in a very nice house in the country with a crunchy gravel drive... Allroad territory wink

After a bit of paint, tints and accessory winter 19s from an A7... the aim was an OEM look with just a hint of menace:

The wheels were a great find, they are the same 8" width as it should have, but the offset is 10mm different (like having a 10mm spacer). I'd love to say there is no rubbing but that would be a lie, the left front sometimes catches the plastic arch and needs to be trimmed. However, the stance directly from behind is really good, the standard wheels are so tucked-in. I chose a slightly oversize 45 profile rather than 40 to maintain ~100mm of sidewall, the speedo is bang-on reality rather than under-reading. I have a set of 18s to refurb for winter but haven't got around to it.

Oh and of course it might have had a remap along the way whistle

It is truly Jekyll and Hyde... the change in character from Allroad mode through wafty floaty comfort to Sport + Dynamic is really good, akin to what Land Rover do on their supercharged models. Adaptive damping and air is a great combination.

Most of the time I leave it in Drive + Automatic and it floats over speed bumps beautifully; Sport + Dynamic is much better for "making progress" but is still comfortable. On Eagle F1s it grips well, it's not sporty but as long as you make sure the front end is dug in then the 40:60 torque split feels satisfyingly neutral when you pour on the power out of a bend.

Jobs to do:
- Auto box oil change and the box remapped, it's a bit too lazy in D and too aggressive in S (e.g. it won't change to 3rd until 34mph and locks out 6th... driving around town in second gear at 30 is not Allroad behaviour!)
- A pulley swap to maximise bottom-end torque
- Brakes - the armoured version of the C6 used A8 front brakes, I have a set of these to go on (I love parts-bin upgrades like this)
- Track down an annoying high speed vibration, feels like the centre prop shaft mount might be soggy
- Change the headlamps to xenon (bog-standard halogen headlamps on a premium German car, even in 2010, really?!)
- Fit a wireless android auto box of tricks that uses the original screen and enables streaming music

Wish list:
- Black headlining and tan sports interior... German eBay will come good on that front one day biggrin

Overall I was (and still am) a BMW fan and consciously avoided Audi... but I am a fan of the Allroad, even one this old.

update - The Apple CarPlay was uploaded and works fine. Some handiness and will be ditching my onboard Sim and Subscribed AudiConnect reluctantly
The OEM Satnav interface / detailing and overall experience beats Waze hands down. but comes with a £240 pa cost.......

Going to look at a 2017 A4 All Road this weekend with the intention to purchase - anything to look out for?
How did your viewing go? Have only just come back to the thread but check you're happy with rear legroom. In addition, until a month ago there were two 2017 A4 Allroads in my extended family, both 3.0 272s. One had heated seats (front) and the other didn't so I guess they weren't standard at the time!
Only took me 8 months to respond! 2017 A4 All Road was purchased and we have been running it without issue since. It is in matador red, which I think looks great and stands out from the usual black / grey. We have some winter tyres on it and I have been really surprised at the level of grip on the roads that have been frosty / snowy / icy!

Thankfully rear leg room isn't an issue - our biggest requirement was a big boot for a large dog!
