A Heuer reference 1614:

A Christmas gift from my soon-to-be wife in 1979, I wore it daily for 30+ years but mostly to special occasions now. It's been to our wedding, the first day of my professional career, the births of our four daughters, their weddings, the births of a few grandchildren, my 2020 retirement and a lot of life in between.

It recently returned from its first service.

Lovely watch, cool story and great memories.

Looking for a bit of advice from those in the know regarding the first watch on the left in my picture. With the others, I've just stuck a new battery in and away they go again. The WN111C won't work with a 371 battery in it although it fits ok. I've ordered some 395's but don't hold much hope. Any ideas what else it could be?

Here's my TAG Heuer Formula 1 - Aston Martin Racing. I love it!

There's another one I'll hopefully be able to add, a vintage Pasadena.

A new 395 battery made no difference and it's still not working. Not sure what to do next.

I've just not bonded with mine, I wanted to try a leather strap watch but have found I just don't wear it, was going to buy the steel bracelet for it but I've other watches that tick that box, probably end up selling it. frown

I understand, to each their own. I prefer it on the leather strap, I tend not to wear many watches on steel bracelets. However, as a big Aston Martin fan, I just had to have it.

Unfortunately bought with a bonus from a work place that compromised me out shortly after.

Never quite bonded with it after that but is a beautiful thing

My two, the little one I bought in the mids 2000s and wore every day until a couple of years ago when I realised it looked quite.. small, been through a lot with it so won't let it go.

I'm also after a carrera at some point (along with a whole load of other stuff!)

This was my first proper watch, bought for £580 back around 1995 (I think). Just had it serviced so I can give it to my son as a graduation present, but decided to give it another outing myself first, for old time's sake..

My colleague used to wear the blue dial version. Cracking looking thing.

I fancy the white dial with blue bezel but have watched some YouTube videos about the Kith versions and have been put off.

I got my 2007 model out yesterday. Pleasant change.

I searched a fair bit for a 2447S about 10 years ago as I was keen to get a 1960's Heuer chrono and liked this model the best. I found this one for sale in a little boutique in Belgium and then ummed and erred for a while about buying it just based on photos. Happily for me I went for it with Dominic Hackett's help in organising/broking the purchase. I wear it all the time and am very fond of it. It came back from a service in Switzerland with a rally strap, but I prefer the more classic Hirsch alligator version.

Hi

I have one of these too (since 1986) and somehow I’ve lost the bracelet

I love the watch and wish I could wear it on the bracelet and not just straps

Might be the pull out pin (don't know the tech term sorry) not re-engaging as this has happened to mine post battery change. Sometimes pulling it out, winding amd pushing it back in works but sometimes you'll need to take the back off and reset everything.

Ok thanks for that advice. I'd chucked in the back of the drawer and given up on it but will give it a try and see what happens.

I love mine too and was the first decent watch I bought in 1988/89 from Watches of Switzerland in Regent Street. Don't think I'd ever sell it as it holds a lot of memories. In fact I'm wearing it today.
