Postmodern Jukebox's cover of the Weeknd's I Would Die For You is astounding, especially live.

Saw them Sunday night at the Palladium, their 1,000th gig.
They have an incredible roster of singers and musicians - that gig featured Glen Campbell's daughter Ashley (great vocalist and banjo player), Ariana Savalas (another one with a famous father), who Is both a great vocalist burlesque performer.
Some superb British artists with them too - Emma Smith on vocals and percussionist Jack Amblin.

Zombie is one song where the original will never be bettered. That cover completely lacks the powerful emotion of Dolores O'Riordan's vocals, so it's a no from me.
I think it's the instrumental side of the cover I like but the way it swaps out the (perfect) anger in the vocals with what seems like a disappointed level of contempt just seems like a decent take. You're right though, you can't really better the original.
