I just stumbled across this very episode as my first experience of this show, I won't watch any others.

Why not sell the wheels and engine? Break it for parts to minimise the whole fake "we're so poor" theme or just let the other chap have it for £300.

Utterly ridiculous.
The others are better, in fairness. You get the feeling that the two guys are actually alright, and probably do know a bit about cars, but the entire production company surrounding them don't.
It smacks quite a bit of a team of people trying to make a show about a subject they do not understand. A proper TV show where they flip 'bangers' would made by people who actually like old crocky cars, and 'get' it.

I visited the place the BX from earlier in the series came from the other day, and learned a bit about what went on. I also know a guy who went to view the BX post 'repairs' with a view to buying it. He was told he couldn't test drive it, because the cambelt could break at any minute!
Considering they drove it to France and back once they'd done it....yeah. I don't think I'd buy a car they'd 'done' unless I had a view to doing it again myself.

The stand out episode for me was the Rover Sterling one. It was not a Sterling, the Sterling had the 24 valve Honda 2.5 or 2.7 , it was a bog standard 820 with a sterling badge stuck on the boot. Wrong engine wrong interior yet some tool bought it
Was this coupe, if so I believe all the coupes were marketed as Sterling.
I don't recall that but you may be correct. I had a Sterling back in the day it was a range topping trim and engine combination. Honda 24v v6 in 2.5 or 2.7 litre. Electric seats front and rear , a dashboard computer etc. At the time a lovely car . The one they had was boggo spec.

Why would any "professionals" buy a 20 year old Alfa that had been stored for years without checking the underside for rust ? Then having got it up on the ramp and realising that it was a basket case spend money on refurbishing the wheels and replacing the timing belt ? It just doesn't make sense ! Also they bought spot lamps for the BX but never fitted them.

I still enjoy the program though !

just finished watching this. I enjoyed it cheap cars and bodging. refreshingly rough around the edges

The premise of the 5 days to turn around the car, and sticking the ebay ad up on day 1 whilst it looks grotty sits felt false and laboured (possibly by production team to engineer in false drama?). Likewise the Alfa 155 - either another couple of days to get the welding finished and MoT'd, or break its and recover the costs of the wheels etc. Dont see how scrapping it over spending a few more days of labour was cost effective.

Was there just the one season?

It looks like a 3rd series is on the way, cars for sale on Facebook etc

Interesting as well that Paul Brackley was with Edd China the other day and he said that he did most of the work on the cars.

A YouTuber by the name of 'Number 27' bought the BX 16V they did, and I went to his to work on it a couple of weeks ago (as documented in one of the videos he's uploaded of it).

All is not as it seems on the screen, that's all I'll say laugh

Just going through the latest episodes.

Just watched the Skoda one. The blue Renault 5 they bought was parked on the drive of the bloke they got the Skoda from?

Virgin lists Series 3, but with no "first broadcast on" dates, and the series link didn't pick it up.

Only S1 and S2 are available on Discovery+.

I'll watch Series 3 if it's ever on. I quite liked the show. I know it was quite amateur, but I liked it!

And to keep it in the YouTube/Pistonhead family, the car was then sold to myself, though not used for long as it developed an affinity for cutting out with no warning - that evolved into a total refusal to start. It is now in the care of Kitchski from this thread, who has done a good series on putting it back together.

Jack @ No.27 definitely did more to this car than the TV crew did, and some of their statements on the show (eg. one owner car) were simply false

I forgot about this thread laugh

Yeah, there's me writing about it like some BX-obsessed loser on PH, and low & behold; I now have the car sat behind me!
