Mine was from 1966 and I'm sure it had a colum change auto from memory, it must have been twenty years or so ago. It was a 30k mile barn find bought for pennies and solid as a rock!!
'66 was first year IIRC, so I think column change and a bench seat were likely standard for the early cars?

My mate John's one was like the B&C one, a late one, I think his was a H or a J plate from memory, and had the floor change Powerglide and individual front seats. I think that's a reason John preferred the old PA, as it was column change and bench seat, so more enjoyable for doing the Chelsea Cruise with the girlfriend laugh

A pal of mine had a Ventora back in the eighties. It was better looking than the Viscount IMO and (from memory) had the same running gear. The overdrive helped it cruise nicely, and it was a comfy ride

Most of what he says is tongue in cheek but the internet police can't see it
I am not sure his complete lack of knowledge at times is tongue in check, saying the NSU RO80 was all Audi plus the Citroen SM with wrong information in regards to Maserati etc did not show him in a good light plus also how he was with the SM seller was not good.
I was surprised at his rudeness with the SM seller - he seemed to be in a bit of a strop for some reason. Not how I remember seeing him previously.

This has been talked about on here pages and pages back, the SM seller was a fellow trader (or ex-trader) that Derek knew from years back.....so either it was trade banter or there was some previous between the two of them.....

I’m sure I previously defended Derek on here but the more I watch him the more I find him a bit irritating. It’s like having a partner that starts to annoy you, then everything they do ends up annoying you. I still watch it though!

I watch it because I’m a car fan, it’s a little bit lame, though. They all talk some crap at times…

Exactly, I'm in it for the cars I find the most annoying bit about the show is the glimpse of a more interesting car in the background yet you never get to hear about it.

I’ve watched it (or am watching it) from series 1 - wish you could fast forward the first couple of minutes (I don’t need to hear the same stuff every episode - I can recite it word for word!)
Like you I’m in it for the cars.

I always record it to watch so I can fast-forward the adverts (rarely watch anything apart from The Chase 'live') and start watching from five minutes in because I can't bear all that waste of time stuff at the start. Showing you what's coming up etc.

Working with your family has it's ups and it's downs.

I'll bet you a pound it doesn't start.

What a runner! Smooth as silk this car.

We're selling dreams.

Most people come in here with an idea of what they want, and leave with something else.

Ad nauseum.

Yes apart from it's raining again. However after 9 series the intro could do with a refresh.

The intro hasn't been the same for all 9 series- it used to have Sarah Crabtree in it, and used different quotes/clips.

They also changed how he says “Dave” , I’m intrigued as to why

Same here, I’d rather not know what cars are going to be featured, is it to give me an opportunity to switch off if there’s nothing I’m interested it? Is it to make me keep watching if I don’t like a car because the next car’s more interesting? Is it to cut down the actual new content of the programme to 20 minutes of the 30 scheduled?

Do they think people interested in older cars are that vacuous?
