No comments on the Conservative performance overnight?
I wonder why.
Give them chance to read how to spin it on the Daily Mail website...FFS I wonder why.

Labour also claimed a 'truly historic result' to take Rushmoor - the home of the British Army - from the Tories and end nearly a quarter-of-a century of Conservative control.
I did some canvassing and leafleting for Labour in what will be a key target seat at the GE. The organisation was incredible. Never seen anything like at previous elections.

That's what people want.
Richard Holden said so this morning.
I'm not even joking.

So despite Reform not having any more of a workable idea about what to do about imigration, Con voters are just sick of the government pretending they do. Finally seeing this on such a scale in ballott boxes will unsettle MPs - Whether they get letter writing we shall see.

Edit - apparently someone call Ben Habid
But if people scuppered a boat, he said, they would have to “suffer the consequences of their actions”.
“You would leave them to drown?” asked his host. “Absolutely,” Habib said.

I have an acquaintance who's been a Tory councilor since 2021 and does seem to do a fair amount but his pics are always "angry people in newspapers" while blaming Labour for everything bad in his ward.
His FB page is like your racist uncles with anti woke (doesn't understand the meaning of woke either), pro Brexit and misleading Turning Point memes.
Voted out by less than 200 votes. Get in

Didn’t someone in Reform UK Ltd respond with ‘absolutely’ when asked if he would let people drown in the Channel?

I can genuinely believe that. I saw some of their activists (I dont like to use that word it seems a bit military to me but anyway) going round Blackpool. The sheer amount of people going in and out of the Talbot Road offices was surprising.I did some canvassing and leafleting for Labour in what will be a key target seat at the GE. July GE then?
No, nobody wants to take over before the election because they will want to pin any bad results on Rishi and then they can brand themselves as a new start. All the posturing is getting ready for what happens after the election (and a little bit of getting the right result because some candidates will do better after a wipeout and others after a narrow defeat).p1stonhead said:

Losing half of councillors seems like what was expected but less than a third of results are in so let's see how it changes over the rest of the day.
How's that going?https://www.oddschecker.com/politics/british-polit...
Conservatives have been at around 8/1 for most seats for the last few weeks and I've been waiting for the price to change. It is now 13/1. Time to buy.

The setting of a GE has always been within the purview of the PM and governing party. It is one of the strongest tools a govt has and the rules have always been laid out so that is a govt advantage. It’s also a system that works. When we tried to change that, we invoked chaos. It’s like removing the Chairman’s vote, the black ball advantage - you promoted systemic stalemate and the resulting chaos ensued. It was not rocket science for everyone involved to quickly come to the conclusion of not doing that again. And it was a fairly universally shared opinion across Parliament to sod that again!
As such it isn’t about “spine” or whatever, it’s about seeking the strongest tactical advantage you can for your side as to when you set the GE. It always has been, it always will be. For this cycle that was always going to be autumn - it had to be for Rishi’s bet to pay off. He only had one play and that was time. Time to get inflation down and time to get the IRs down. Well it’s almost half worked, but he’s only going to get *at best* 2 IR reductions before autumn, probably only one. And that won’t be enough to save the day. It still remains the only play he has though. Labour will almost certainly win the GE and yes, SKS et al will inherit much more benign economic conditions than Rishi had to play with. Hunt actually did pretty good remedial work as Chancellor with the limited amount he had to work with. Given that nobody likes Jeremy Hunt it’s amusingly ironic that he might escape from this looking ok.
TLDR: Labour will win, there probably isn’t much Rishi n co can do, but they will try to maximise their advantages as any govt does.

Nobody wants Rishi yet he can decide when he wants to lose his job.
It incentivises the greedy to hold on to power at all costs rather than actually get st done.
Giving an advantage in political things is fking stupid and not representative of the people's will.

The Tories are certainly well and truly done and I would be gobsmaked if sunak didn’t bail fairly soon and leave it to someone else to take over the party.
God knows who though as they ain’t got anyone left!
You would think that would be the logical thing to do, sadly I don’t see it happening God knows who though as they ain’t got anyone left!
