Thanks, it is funny, even more hysterical is the SNP demanding it be removed

Nats kicked up a fuss about 10yrs ago when Lewes did a effigy of Salmond for bonfire night, they do a political figure every year and no one ever bothered until the face painters claimed it was racist.

Have a wonderful holiday weekend all, off for a few beers in 'the ferry' later then last train home. At about 11pm. Rock AND roll!! Peace and love all, gbn x

The reason I said I found it clever was I saw it more as the party has become a noose around their necks. Not the literal interpretation of they should be hung. Thing is - this lot can dish it out, but don’t take it back. Parasites the lot of them, really starting to detest this country...

The Anchor Bar?
I might pop in there. Truth be told, I don't like the Ferry. In all my years up here it's the last place I'd head for a pint but it's just convenient tonight as I'm meeting my Mrs. I'll just have to tolerate the pop stars, poseurs and off duty polis for a few hours smile

Is that lash up for real? I had assumed it was just a tongue-in-cheek piccie to poke fun but I’m beginning to doubt that. Surely such workmanship can never pass any Lloyd’s (or whoever) inspection . . . can it . . . seriously?
Sadly real, and far from a lone case...

The oft-repeated 'it's not the worker's fault, it's the management ' claim with the yard's problems is not all true. Yes, someone's gaffer should be picking that up straight away, and so should their boss and ultimately QC, but the guy who has actually done it has gone 'yep, happy with that', which is concerning.

In normal builds, the customer wouldn't pay until stuff like that gets sorted, but they don't really have a say now that the whole project is political. The yard view CMAL/Calmac's highlighting of issues as an inconvenience; not exactly the customer-focused attitude of a business that wants to attract private orders. They genuinely don't think the way they operate is a problem, not helped by the Scottish Government blowing smoke up their arses and continually giving them more funding/extensions on the build time.

The thing is, they don’t need to persuade people to toot, they need to persuade people by making a case for independence that isn’t “just” patriotic or based on a dislike of England/Westminster/Tories or whatever.

Whilst. Shouting freeedom or bd toaries whilst flashing passing motorists when the wind catches your kilt may be great to like minded simpletons. I would prefer to see a fully costed fiscal plan for Scottish independence beyond we’ve got oil ( but shh don’t tell the greens they’ll get upset)

The snp could have had an independent Scotland already if they had gave us competent and sensible governance. Rather than pandering to a vocal minority

Maybe the good folk of Arran won't vote SNP in the upcoming election.
To be fair, in the 2022 council election they elected a Tory, for Holyrood and Westminster they’re outnumbered by mainland voters which could certainly explain the continual election of Kenny and Patricia Gibson of the SNP. Yes, the MP and MSP are husband and wife.

Depressing watching the Scottish news today, coverage of the independence walk. Difficult to work out numbers as camera angles made to look a lot of people.

How can voters still support these idiots, they had their chance to make it better in Scotland and they blew it big time. Marchers getting interviewed still maintaining that we need independence. banghead

Roll on an election and the majority can show what we think of their efforts.

There is still a lot of support for independence, even if that for the SNP is waning.
I avoided the bridges today.

There’s a lot of noise from empty vessels about independence.

Only the most brain dead of folks are still bleating about it.

The rest of us are worried about basic services being destroyed.

Yeah it’s mostly the same 34% of the electorate that voted for it ten years ago.

Of course they say that, regardless of whatever the ill may be. Cancer? Independence will make it all better. Existential angst? Independence will make you happy. Global inflation making the cost of living go up? Independence will make the price of milk go down. It's why popular support for it hasn't shifted in a decade despite things which objectively could have done the job(B****t, Boris, Truss), no effort has been expended to move on from the emotional appeal and they're utterly st at governing. With luck Alba will crowd out the SNP from the right, SLAB can soak up some squishy soft yessers who want less st government. If someone cloned Tommy Sheridan to reinvigorate the socialists the SNP would be in significant trouble.

Notwithstanding that they were also marching behind a Pro Palestine banner. So I guess the two causes are inextricably linked now and belief in one means automatic belief in the other?
