Cannot stand his divisive identity politics approach. Just a deeply unlikeable character.
What are his "identity politics" and why are they divisive? I'me genuinely curious because, in my experience, people complaining about politics or policies being "divisive" are usually against them because the status quo gave them an advantage which they don't want to lose.

There is nothing divisive about recognizing London is a global city, with nationalities of all shapes and sizes, tourists from around the world and we should celebrate that. Its a great thing there is Ramadan celebrations as well as christmas lights, Vaisakhi takes over Trafagular square. A giant Menorah covered in lights etc etc etc

The mayor is a mayor for all

Looks like we'll have to wait till tomorrow (Saturday) to see the results. Seems like a pretty close race as Susan Hall has narrowed the gap in recent polls.
Khan won by a country mile.
Erm, vote counting doesn't start until Saturday morning.

I expect the postal votes from Karachi alone have already secured his next term? confused

A weak opposition candidate does not make Khant any more appealing. He is awful.

Yeah, and I doubt this poster will back up what he says. Usual cowardice racist behaviour.

I’ll be absolutely stunned if Khan didn’t walk it. As I’ve been predicting since before he was first elected. If you bother taking a look at the demographics it would always be astonishing for a non-Labour win. When you add in all the very obvious elements that would lessen the Conservative vote this time around I’m not sure how anyone could possibly expect Khan not to win.

It’s possible, but I suspect unlikely, there there might be some interesting details into share of vote, turnout etc (particularly by ward). But I’d be surprised.

How anyone can question his divisiveness is beyond me, though.

It's banter on a car forum with smilies, you don't really consider this is a serious platform for political discussion do you? smile

I actually do. Plenty of good discussions here from learned folk.

So go on, explain your comment.

She ran a disastrous campaign beset by allegations of dishonesty, far-right sympathies and incompetence. My abiding memory of her will be dropping her Oyster card on the tube & someone handing it in but not before she claimed she'd been pickpocketed & insinuated it was a migrant.

I'd be amazed if she isn't trotters up in Tenerife by this time tomorrow.
I honestly don't get it.

I'm not from London so I don't know the nuances of what people do and don't like about Khan but what I do know is that if you wanted a reasonable chance of unseating him Susan Hall seems to be just about the worst possible choice the Conservatives could have picked to try to do so.

Literally what the fk were they thinking?

You aren't the only one. The Tories have put up, in order, Steve Norris, Zac Goldsmith, Shaun Bailey & Susan Hall. There is a reasonable argument, they don't expect to win & play accordingly.

You mean divisiveness like the way Boris lied about stuff, or the way Rishi is pushing his far right Rwanda agenda with Suella? Maybe it's like the divisiveness of Susan Hall campaigning with Tommy Robinson? Some examples of how khan is divisive would help.

What's your point?

I'm telling you he has won by a country mile. There is no shadow of doubt about that and Susan Hall was not even in with a shot.

Tory hopeful for London mayor joins anti-Ulez Facebook group rife with Islamophobia

article said:
The contents of the group include:

- A YouTube video alleging that “Islamists” were “taking over Britain”.
- Abuse towards Khan, including a post that read: “Seriously can’t believe Khan hasn’t been taken out yet … if dark forces can take out Princess Diana I'm sure they can take out this money grabbing little parasite”.
- Examples of vandalism: one user shared a photo of an enforcement van with its tyres slashed, noting “two flat tyres and sprayed camera”. Another user responded: “Well done to whoever that was”.
- Numerous Islamophobic comments, including one commenter calling Khan a “terrorist sympathiser”, and another saying that the London mayor “will see a big upsurge in public feelings and possibly major riots, mosques burnt down and innocent Muslims unable to walk the streets”.
Any PHers part of these groups?
