Tory hopeful for London mayor joins anti-Ulez Facebook group rife with Islamophobia

article said:
The contents of the group include:

- A YouTube video alleging that “Islamists” were “taking over Britain”.
- Abuse towards Khan, including a post that read: “Seriously can’t believe Khan hasn’t been taken out yet … if dark forces can take out Princess Diana I'm sure they can take out this money grabbing little parasite”.
- Examples of vandalism: one user shared a photo of an enforcement van with its tyres slashed, noting “two flat tyres and sprayed camera”. Another user responded: “Well done to whoever that was”.
- Numerous Islamophobic comments, including one commenter calling Khan a “terrorist sympathiser”, and another saying that the London mayor “will see a big upsurge in public feelings and possibly major riots, mosques burnt down and innocent Muslims unable to walk the streets”.
Any PHers part of these groups?
Do you want an invite? hehe

What a bunch of vile little turds. I guess that's exactly the constituency that Lawrence Fox was aiming for.

Is it just my perpetual pessimism or is this going to be a lot closer than everyone expected?

I think this election will be a real help for motorists.
Because its announced in different areas then the ones that voted for Mr Khan will be the ones to avoid driving through because they will be lived in by leftie hating motorist types.
The areas that voted for the Conservative can be regarded as motorists are ok here. .So if people avoid the motorist hating leftie areas then those areas will be starved of cash. Their shops will go bust cos no one outside the area will shop there.
After a while the people in those areas will rebel and say we need motorists and they will get the camera things took away.
It may take time but facing financial ruin and depravity will force these people to realise cars are ok

What kind of depravity did you have in mind? Actually it doesn't matter, they're all good - tell me where these fleshpot areas are, I have a day trip to the Smoke coming up and want to make the most of it! evil

Yes, won by a country mile (as I stated yesterday).

What made them think it would be close? Seemed to come from both camps so unlikely to just be preparing the ground for spin.

He has won massively by greater than 250K votes.

A swing to Labour overall.

ULEZ clearly not a major impediment.

Most of the people that vote for him don't own a car. But are too naive to understand that services, shops, tradesmen etc will pass the charge onto the consumer i.e. them.

Or they know that many of those tradesmen, etc drive compliant vehicles. Pretty much any diesel 9 years old or less and most petrol cars less than 18 years old are Ulez exempt.
Every single petrol Focus is exempt..

Good to see how badly Britain First performed - they got 20,000 votes, 4,000 less than Count Binface.

Be interested to see where a fair few commentariat reputations go from here. Kuenssberg in particular has been retailing plenty of garbage opinion over the past few days, No shortage in the press either. Topped off with flailing minnows Reform receiving massively disproportionate coverage in contrast to say the Greens & Lib Dems who've actually taken strides. Shouldn't the BBC represent the national mood? Not doing that for my money.
