Could be interpreted as a ringing endorsement of ULEZ. No doubt Sunak will try to roll it out nationally.

Most of the people that vote for him don't own a car. But are too naive to understand that services, shops, tradesmen etc will pass the charge onto the consumer i.e. them.
Londoners will get what they vote for, it is the rest of us who suffer if we are unfortunate enough to need to drive in.

Sadly I have two places which I need to visit in London to see family. A 20 mph zone that stretches for many miles on main roads is lots of fun rolleyes

I hate driving in London. The tube is usually a far better and cheaper option

Which is great until you realise there are huge parts of London not covered by the tube..

..or you want to carry something larger than a shopping bag

And yet people manage just that.

Or they know that many of those tradesmen, etc drive compliant vehicles. Pretty much any diesel 9 years old or less and most petrol cars less than 18 years old are Ulez exempt.
Every single petrol Focus is exempt..
Lol how long before it gets tightened up to "save the planet". How silly of me, tinfoil hat etc.

TX.

Indeed. Came back from Heathrow today by train with 2 large suitcases. Heathrow Express, Elizabeth Line to Liverpool Street and home to Essex in 2 hours. Far quicker and easier than driving..

Unlucky.

Thankfully, London is one city i will never, ever have to visit again.

Do they? I don't recall my local council having a massive expendature to replace all of their not compliant cars.

Do many councils have cars or vans over 10 years old? Most I see are 5 years or less.

How many of you actually live in London or drive through it regularly? I do and I hardly see many non compliant vehicles around. I suspect ULEZ is a non issue for the vast majority of Londoners.

If its not an issue and the air is so clean, why is it still there?

Really? And how do you get about? How do you get your weekly shopping, or DIY materials, or a million other daily scenarios we all do day to day. I bet you drive

Good to see how badly Britain First performed - they got 20,000 votes, 4,000 less than Count Binface.
Nothing like losing with a bit of dignity either going from the disgraceful video of their candidate and his supporters at Khan's speech.

I agree, my local dump will not allow pedestrians so people just dump stuff on the street like these radiators that I spotted from my house today.

Good point. Clearly the voters in London didn't see it as a big enough issue. For me knife crime, anti social behaviour/theft, and the cost of living are the top items. Sadiq doesn't have a plan for those either and he still won - that's how bad the other candidate was.

Why do you think the tories put forward a racist, bigoted liar as their candidate of choice?

It’s almost as if home delivery doesn’t exist…

Yes, I drive but I have a compliant car and I also use public transport. For really awkward stuff I can even hire a van. It’s almost as if you a choice depending on your needs…

You can even bring your stty polluting diesel in if you want (just make sure you pay the £12.50 smile ).

No one is saying you can’t drive, Not even Khan.

It's a very different approach to provincial living. This morning while still nursing a hangover in bed I ordered my weekly shop from Ocado Zoom, it arrived within an hour. I have an old oven and hob that need going to the dump, I ask the local council to collect it.
For DIY stuff the nearest B&Q is 2 miles away, I either walk or catch the bus, waltz round with my trolley. Pay, order an Uber, load his car up and it takes me home. You get the idea.
When I first moved here 20 years ago I used my car for everything because I still thought like a non Londoner. You quickly adjust and use everything that's available.
