Ultimately it's about advertising value, as with all of the other teams. In Haas's case he seems to think the best advertising bang for investment buck comes from spending the bare minimum and trundling around at the back of the midfield.Mercury00 said:

Gene Haas has become a billionaire through Haas Automation, which is the largest machine tool manufacturer in the US.He entered Formula One to have the Haas name on a mobile billboard - no different to Red Bull really, except Haas cleverly got it done on the cheap.
It's not a 'morally' correct way to operate in F1 but it's a business and he's a businessman.
I'm sure he'd love to win, but he's pretty shrewd and won't want to invest his own money doing so.
If he sells, the Haas name is out of F1 and his mobile billboard goes. That has a value, obviously. Maybe someone just hasn't offered him enough cash......
I can't really see this going any other way than Haas getting left behind by the other teams.
If they are really lucky, a dormant-phase Sauber will keep them company back there for a couple of years.
The team really needs to change their game ready for 2026. I really hope Gene sells to someone who has ambition beyond putting two mobile billboards on the track- sooner the better.

I've heard a rumour that Drive to Survive has asked Guenther to dub new Team Principle Ayao Komatsu for the new series.
Although if I put my pedant hat on, as DTS will be focusing on 2023 I expect Guenther will have a prominent role. The final scene of the final episode in the series will be Guenther winking at the camera, saying "see you next season", before fading to black, with a text overlay saying something along the lines of "shortly after filming he was removed from his role at Haas..."
