At this rate, any decent E39 now should be worth twenty large. A moot point obviously because I just don't imagine too many private punters spending up to 100k on a new 5 Series. Anyway, if they do I hope they sell before the warranty expires.

Wouldn't be a bad option as a company car hack but desirability? Pretty much zero.

We have a 2023 330e which will be pretty similar in how it operates. It also goes for that effortless soothing quick which I now actually really appreciate and certainly doesn’t need more comfort or power for what its role is. As a daily driver it’s brilliant and cheap to run. We also got it in a really cheap lease deal which is how I imagine these will sell.

My experience of PHEV is that’s it’s the best of both EV and ICE. Just use a normal plug to charge it and away you go. Don’t bother charging at public chargers on long journeys as they cost more than petrol anyway.

I’d certainly have no qualms getting one as hopefully it just a more practical version of our 330e which makes is an amazing daily driver.

If you want a drivers car or a sporty drive based on our 330e definitely recommend looking else where as although fast they just aren’t.

I actually passed a new 5-Series earlier today (530e?), and thought it looked quite good from behind/side, but when I got in front and looked in my rear view mirror, I couldn't believe how hideous the front was (chrome, not black). I must have completely switched off when this version came out, as I always thought the 5-series was BMW's saving grace, as it still retained a handsome front. But when I saw this, my heart sank, and now I just can't help thinking 'is there nothing BMW cannot turn in to an ugly piece of schyt? :/

That's what I thought. I reckoned 60-70k tops.

Just such a dull looking thing. Driver presumably likes wears various shades of beige ...

If it was £500 Id be in as my decently optioned £420/month 530d needs to be moved on in September

Im probably their target customer but doubt I will see the monthly cost as reasonable when deals are published

Have we ever lived through this before, new versions of cars arguably worse than the old ones spin

Very glad they never stuck the entire name on the boot lid - that is a lot of lettering, would have wrapped round onto the rear wingsbiggrin.

Dreadful-looking car, this new 5 Series. Saw my first one on the road the other day and it’s just horrible, massive stty light-up front grille and all.

Good car but at 76k before options that's a hard sell.

I'm not exactly sure why, but this car makes me a little sad. I've always been a big fan of the 5 series, but I'm finding myself less and less interested in them as time goes on though, and it just makes me look back even more fondly at the manual E39 M5 for sure.

Gosh...I sound like a right miserable old git!
Make that 2 "miserable old gits". Time has not been kind for the 5. Sadly, not kind to other BMW models either smile
Agree. I don’t like any new BMWs now. I used to like them all. Had an E34. They were all good after except the E60. This one looks awful.

I never agreed with most people's not liking the G80 M car front end styling, but this is, we can all say, is not good.

Not for me. Looks like a bigger 2 Series, and not the good one. The FWD one. I also have a real hate for slapping cheap screens in where lovely clear dials used to live.

I've had every version of the 5 since the E39. I won't be having this one ever.

So very sad.

Judging by the comments here, I must be the exception. I like the look of the new 5. Far more distinctive and better looking compared to the previous generation.
