Just fitted to one of these to my 2021 A110 S.
11k mile car, just under 3 years old.
Seems to make quite a difference - there is more intake noise - not night and day but the car is now giving a more complex / turbo sound.
However, I'm actually more suprised about how much more responsive it is - seems to really get up and go from low rpm's.
I haven't had chance to try the top end yet.
I wasn't expecting much from an air filter - not looking to oversell it, but it almost feels like the car has been remapped.
The old factory air filter looked clean on top but was full of quite a bit of junk from the underneath when I pulled it out. There was also quite a bit of dust / what looks like bits of leaf / twig at the bottom of the airbox - which I vacuumed out.
Certainly in my ownership, the car is not parked under trees.
The car was just serviced at Alpine - was surprised the old air filter hadnt been checked / cleaned / replaced - looking at the service schedule, seems like it is a yr 4 / 24k miles job.
So takeaways - on my car anyway, this air filter seems a good bang per buck mod.
And even if you don't change to a performance filter, it wouldnt hurt to clean out your airbox and check your OE air filter ahead of the service schedule.

Good to hear, complete coincidence but literally just ordered one smile

Look forward to some subtle added character in the cab

I ordered one last night too

£79 delivered sounds steep but probably cheaper than an OEM one fitted during a service

Hi,

Had my Life110 filter fitted in June last year when my car had done 2500 miles. I think its transformed the car, certainly a cracking upgrade for the price.
The induction noise is superb now, and very addictive biggrin

Regards

Tim

Hoe easy is it to change the cabin filter and where is it located?

Not that hard but a bit of a faff. It's accessed via the passenger footwell, behind the centre console panel. I'll see if I can locate a 'how to' that someone posted up a while back

Is it worth starting a 'Do it Yourself' thread for this sort of thing? It's a bit different from 'Hints & Tips'.

Changed mine 12 months ago, exactly the same findings as you, totally transformed the car. just checked / cleaned it yesterday while carrying out 4 year service and trans oil change, Trans oil very discoloured for 15000 road miles.

Comparison photo. Multilayer foam (ITG) vs paper.

That was the best £78 I have spent in a long time - many thanks for the top-tip.
Amazed such a small change can have such a big impact on the way the engine runs.
Way smoother at low rpm and pulls much better at motorway speeds.

Definitely the 4 year service schedule for the air filter now looks way too long, would recommend replacing the standard one as soon as possible. I definitely think my 3 year old filter was acting as a block on smooth running.

Good to know. Mine arrived yesterday and I look forward to fitting it…!

I wonder why the filters are seemingly so prone to getting clogged up. Does anyone know where the intake draws air from? The pipe running into the airbox seems to come from the lower rear quarter area.

The intake is on the left hand side of the car, just behind the small curved window to the rear of the passenger door.

I don't quite get how a panel filter could even make any difference on a turbo charged engine.
On a natural aspirated engine a it might give 2 or 3 hp cause it is less restrictive. But why should it be more effective on a forced air inlet?

I fitted one earlier in the week as well, not driven enough to say whether it’s helped responsiveness but definitely more prominent turbo noises.

Original filter was pretty filthy full of dust/leaves and detritus so had to give the airbox and good clean and hoover out.

That intake seems blocked off from the inside though, and the actual intake pipe comes into the airbox from lower down. Can you elaborate?

My guess is that the rear quarter is a cavity with air running into it from the grille behind the window, and then the intake pipe drawing air out of that cavity from lower down. Just something I've always wondered, but never seen "proof" as it were.

I’ll need to have a look, I thought that the intake dropped down and then came up again, forming a kind off s bend so that moisture didn’t get into the filter box - might be a small drain at the lowest point as a fair amount of water will be blown into the intake when driving in the rain. The most I’ve done is replace the filter, anyone else done any more work in that area?

Looks like you are right. The main air box feed runs into the area just in front of the rear wheel arch. The intake behind the curved side window seems to drop vertically into the same area. Back in the engine bay there is a pipe dropping vertically from the main intake pipe.
