2023-24 tax refunds
Discussion
Still haven't had approx 1k refund off HMRC after I submitted my self assessment back in January.
Is anyone else in the same boat? I phoned them, eventually got through, and was told it was "stuck" and they'd raise a form internally for someone to get around to looking at which should be done by July.
I know HMRC are a bit in the st but thats taking the biscuit and dunking it in dog poo surely. Can I expect interest on that payment?
Rant over
Thanks for listening.

Did mine on Monday too. Now having to get the finance together for the o/s tax balance due, which is an almighty 65% higher than for 2022/23, thanks to fiscal drag and the weighted tax regime in the UK.

Don't forget there is an extra button to press to "Request a repayment" after you've submitted the return.
I forget every year and only remember when I log in again and go look - I submitted my return on 8th May, and I pressed the button today to get the repayment made. Hopefully it's only a few more days

I submitted my return last Friday and the refund (approx. £2K) was in my account this morning I forget every year and only remember when I log in again and go look - I submitted my return on 8th May, and I pressed the button today to get the repayment made. Hopefully it's only a few more days
What was curious though was that unlike last year I didn't have to request the payment - it happened automatically. I think there is a change in the online SA - this year I was able to add my bank a/c details for the refund to the SA prior to submission, whereas last year I was unable to do that.

I didn't see a request a repayment button inside the SA form, but did remember to add my bank details. Inside the portal there is a request a repayment link and it takes me to a page that tells me "Your Self Assessment records show you have no amounts available for repayment.".I forget every year and only remember when I log in again and go look - I submitted my return on 8th May, and I pressed the button today to get the repayment made. Its approx 1k refund, stlll not received it, SA submitted in Jan.
Edit to say I phoned them, and they've said I should have it by end of June.
