Thankfully my 100-500 lens is a small fraction of the size and weight of the monster in the video, and I can manage to lug the whole lot around now problem, plus, crucially to me, if I need to suddenly capture a bird flying overhead, I won’t have a monopod dangling awkwardly.
Perhaps if
My numbers come in I’ll suddenly find myself in the market.

I must source a beanbag for use in hides.

I think this is a swallow from the bars on it's tail.

Very acrobatic and on the hunt !

Nice on Mike, one of my favourite birds. When I hear them singing it takes me back to summers of the past, very evocative,

Trying to take photos that need a bit more effort than taking photos out of the window - a Blue Tit coming in to land
BlueTit by Nigel SM, on Flickr

Not as sharp as I'd hoped (and Flickr seems to have softened it a bit more) as I think it was slightly out of focus but I'm getting there!

Good attempt at a very difficult shot! Asking a lot of the autofocus to pick it up so you could maybe manual focus on the entry hole to the bird box and leave it on manual for when the bird comes in? Just a thought smile

Any help identifying this one? Spotted flycatcher or something else?

Lovely photos, it's a Dunnock, I think one of our most underestimated birds, sings such a beautiful song.
