Anyone notice the Hilda Ogden homage when Steve slowly and deliberately stumbled over the word 'mural '? Which , notoriously was always mispronounced 'muriel' by Hilda . Gawd rest 'er.

Didn't she go to London on a football scholarship? Something like that.

Weird week by the look of it. Roy must've spilt a gallon of tea in his cells far with these flashbacks...
They've slotted the new detective straight in, perhaps the penny dropped with the writers that PC Tinker can't possibly be the only street plod/detective working immediately outside his own home daily, just toodaft for words. The new chap is obviously here to stay I guess.

Looks like Roy knew there was danger approaching and is currently braced across the ceiling above Griff’s head, Mission Impossible style. Or maybe clinging upside down to the light after studying bats for so long.
Anyway, now that the devil child has found Lauren’s necklace, we’ll find out that it was Sweeney David and she’s now been turned into kebabs next door-ish.

Roy has been studying another book in his cell about martial arts and has disarmed the Griff character and is in the process of calling Plod on his personal 'cell phone' provided by HMP.

As usual I've completely forgotten some of the fairly recent past in Corrie, and i can't recall why Griff would have a grudge against Roy. What part did Roy play in his conviction?

A few prisoners do have phones in their cells apparently. It may just be at risk / vulnerable ones, but my wife (Samaritan volunteer) has spoken to some of them.

No grudge to do with his conviction. As far as Griff knows, Roy is in there for raping / murdering his best mates daughter so a good shanking is the least he could do.

Would have been a great twist to find Griff beaten/shanked, camera pans to Roy cleaning blooded hands in the sink, thousand yard stare.
