Just been watching the brazen little bd. They’re ferrous sulphate ones, so it probably won’t suffer any ill effects. Dog, who was earlier going nuts at two pigeons in someone else’s tree and tries to murder any squirrel in the garden, seems completely oblivious.

Doh! Wrong anion and oxidation state laugh

Ferric phosphate. But still unlikely to do the bugger any harm.

No sign of Rattus this year, but I’ve just been standing three feet away from his diminutive cousin who was snarfing the pellets bold as brass. Treated with nematodes again a couple of days ago so hopefully won’t need more pellets right away.

I've some new visitors but it's an excuse for the air rifle. Not fancying the traps with the dog and hedgehog

You use an air rifle on slugseek .177 or .22?

Do it properly - 12 bore. This is PH.

Ferric phosphate slug pellets are about as much use as writing the slug a strongly worded letter asking it not to eat your Hostas.

The problem with them is that although they do kill slugs and snails, they take several days to do so and they don’t immediately stop eating like they did with the old metaldehyde pellets. I put some out while waiting for another nematode order - should have got those in earlier. And because the nematodes don’t kill snails very effectively. I’ve been patrolling and killing dozens of them each night, but the numbers are dropping, whether because of my depredations or the pellets or the nematodes. Just one slug and one snail tonight.
