Love it, unique! Really like the fact they got a base Carrera 3.6 and chose to splash out on individual colour scheme rather than, say, going for boring grey and spending the money on a 3.8 S instead. Although I would have specced Litronics at least...

What I don't get is why they then only drove it on average 680 miles per year.

Also, not sure I'd spend $86k for it!

What he said!!

No need for Litronics, imho. Especially if you live in the UK.
For those in Germany, Porsche has a type approval for Porsche OEM H7 LED for 997 (and 996 iirc).

Plastic dash and door cards for your cash, too. You'd really have to be fairly keen on the paint being factory to pay that much!

Nothing wrong with the GTS plastic dash. I would be more put off by it being 4wd.

At the end of the 7GTS run, Glasgow had one that colour for sale and couldn’t get rid of it. Actually that may be unfair, but it was sitting around for a while.

GTS dash? On a car that predates the GTS by about five years? You must be a salesman! hehe

Sorry I've been defending the plastic dash in the GTS for so long it has become instinctive to combine those words.

When I had my GTS it was a year or so until I realised that I HAD a plastic dash. I thought the fabled PLASTIC DASH was a hard plastic cheapo affair, whereas mine was good quality soft trim that most German luxury cars have. I laughed when I though about other GTS owners rubbing along with their plastic dashboards, whilst I majestically swanned about with my luxury version.

And then a PHer observed, "ah plastic dash then mate?" I was crushed. My car had gone from being the best vehicle, of any type, that I had EVER owned, to a worthless pile of junk. From that point onward, I could only bring myself to drive it after dark and because it was also PDK I knew that it was essentially valueless, so I couldn't trade it in.

Eventually the humiliation reached a point where it was causing me serious health issues. So listed the car on Ebay with a starting bid of 99p. After it failed to sell six times, and was relisted, some travellers bought it, but knocked me down to 60p because the fuel tank wasn't full. Apparently they were intending to use it as a kennel for their dags.

Mine was a cautionary tale. Never, ever buy a Porsche that doesn't have extended leather. I will be the biggest mistake of your life.

I like it too, but it is very 70's Lincoln Continental Boudoir.

Brilliant.

I feel your pain. My 997 will have Borescore and IMS failure tomorrow. My over engine coolant pipes and brake lines will most probably fail too, and I have P-Zeros on all four corners; it too is worthless.

When did PTS colours mean you could list them for twice the market value?

I bloody love Alan Cantara, and whilst this is probably a bit too much, its definitely a road I am going to go down with mine in a few years.

Flute smile

I dislike the stuff, immensely. It’s “ok” on steering wheels (if you must) but swathes of the stuff on every surface in a car interior just looks very “aftermarket”.

Few companies use real Alan Cantara these days, they’re far more likely to use Dinamica (or whatever Porsche have rebranded it) :

It does give it a special feeling looking at that, when sitting in such car with that.
