This is a question for the dull mens club but I was on the M6 yesterday in flowing traffic (for once) and the M6 does a weird single lane split at Junction 11, I thought I was diverting off so went left on the chevrons.

Does anyone know why this is?

It's just to merge with the M6 Toll, presumably the RH lane was to ease the merge points?

It's where the M6 toll joins in so presumably it was the easiest way to merge the two motorways.

Ah so you can get to North/North East of Brum via the Toll Road.

I've always associated Toll with North/South travelling usage.
