^^^^ Can't say I have ever seen a C6 3.0T Allroad, the normal C6 3.0T's are rare enough! Good find though. There was a few C7 variants on Autotrader - imports from Japan though. The downside of the C7 model is it came with the S-tronic box rather than the 8spd ZF which is a pity. Audi dropped the ball there I reckon.

The S-Tronic gearbox is a 7sp DSG; it’s pretty good I’d say.

Before I got my first (leased) C7 Allroad, I was a bit anti the S-Tronic but after 2 years of living with it, when I bought another I actively sought out the same gearbox. I’ve had the ZF in BMWs and it’s fine too but the S-Tronic feels a bit more individual. At least it’s not Multitronic!

Hi folks, I posted this on the Car Buying section but was prompted to post here too.

It is time for a new car and sad as I'll be to say goodbye to my lovely Megane RS 275 Cup-S I need something better suited to my new motorway slog to and from work.

The car will also need to have space for two big dogs, be able to comfortably will deal with the rubbish rural Scottish weather and not be phased by our 1/2 mile often pot-holed dirt track drive.

After concluding that non-leggy high end SUVs (FFRR etc) are out of budget I'm rather taken with the idea of the A6 Allroad (with the 320ps diesel engine). It has oodles of torque, looks like a nice place to be, has 4wd and can be raised up on its air suspension to make navigating the dirt track easier.

I also have an old Land Cruiser that I'm happy to keep on the road for the really messy jobs so no real need for another SUV

Anything I should know about these Allroads before jumping in? I guess I'll be be looking at something from around 2016 with say 60k on the clock with my budget of 25k. Could go higher but would prefer not to.

I've a 2015 Allroad with 136K on the clock now, but the 272 version. If you test-drive any, make sure you try out the ride height on the highest setting (via the "car" button on the MMI) and if you get any squeaks (usually from the rear) it can be a DIY job to fix/grease up - I think someone on here has done it themselves a couple of pages back, but given the mileage on my car and that it was going in for other stuff last month, I had the rear top mounts and bump stops replaced.

Otherwise, try to get one that has the better nav, which comes with a bigger screen and a touchpad down by the gearstick instead of radio preset buttons. It still surprises me that many later models still came with the lesser nav (even 320s I see on AT), as it really ages the car, but I suppose it doesn't bother everyone!

Have owned for 9,500 miles and 15 months. Previous to this I had a 2017 Avant, also a 272.

The 320hp variant was and is appealing - proper all rounder.
I found that shifting my 272 Hp with 20in rims versus my previous AllRoad with 19in rims brought a delta of £600 a set.what has put me off the 320 is that the brakes are bigger (££) and other items will be too more ‘bespoke’ (££)

I’ve a 60,000 miler 272 on 2016 plate. Likely a keeper as it ticks many boxes. It had the MMI plus pack but I’ve also just uploaded AppleCarplay to it, giving a longer life tech wise.

I have had my 62 plate BiTDi for about 2.5 years now, currently with 139k on it. Obviously you are looking at a facelift car with a lot less miles, so suspension arms should still be ok depending on how it has been driven, so key thing to listen for, is any rattles coming from the front. As mentioned brakes are not the cheapest on these cars due to them being bigger than the single turbo variants. Therefore, I would be looking at the history for a set of new front discs and pads all round. The ZF 8 spd is a reliable gearbox but given the age range you are looking at, regardless of miles, I would factor in a gearbox service. Also look at how regular it has been serviced, and I would take it off long life servicing as the service intervals are far too long for this engine. The facelift cars are Adblue so Euro 6 too.

In terms of options, key things I would consider vital on facelift cars and I would lean to the Sport spec models;
Matrix led headlights
Heated sports seats with memory with elec/heated folding mirrors
Bose stereo option
Dynamic steering and sports diff options
wide screen MMI with touchpad
DAB radio

The rest of the options are just nice to have and facelift cars in general (esp Sport ones) tend to be better spec'd than pre-facelift cars. e.g.
Radar Cruise
Head up display
Soft close doors
Pan roof
Extended leather
Milano leather upgrade

I'd say it was late 2014 so I would look at 2015 on for facelift models. Hard to tell though - I look at the headlights and gearstick for the giveaway.

basically any Allroad BiTDi listed as Euro 6 320ps model is a facelifted one. The ones like mine reg from 2012-2014 are Euro 5 and don't have Adblue.

Just to add to this - DAB radio was standard by 2016, heated seats became standard in 2016 (electric seats still a cost option, but standard on the Sport version) and Milano is the standard leather; Valcona is the upgrade which comes with the sports seats unless you go for Alcantara like I have twice).

The search begins although the BiTDi is a rare beast for sure - and prices reflect that.

Admittedly this will be at least a C7, not just an Allroad, problem, but thought I'd point out that the front centre armrest can be known for getting stuck in the most upright position.

I went to defrost the car on Friday morning, and went to stick my phone on charge whilst doing so, and after having lifted the armrest, I'm unable to put it back down again. Seems to have happened due to the cold temperatures we've been having.

There are two fixes I've seen on YouTube. One is to expose the mechanism by removing the rear vents/climate control unit and the second is a "drill a hole in the plastic here to release" biggrin

Have yet to give either a go.

The armrest is on some sort of ratchet, I assume. Is there no way of shaking/wobbling it to get it loose?

Thanks, have tried that but it's pretty tight. I can slot a knife between the bottom of the armrest and the console but can't get it moving. I'm wondering if a warmer cabin might help but not doing long enough journeys at the moment!

Dealer photo 2 years ago:



It had clearly been well used by its previous owner of 10 years, with crayon on the headlining and all manner of family grot in the crevices. However, it had full Audi SH and was riding on 'A0' code dealer-supplied tyres, with retrofit OEM tow bar, etc and the paperwork exposed the previous owner to live in a very nice house in the country with a crunchy gravel drive... Allroad territory wink

After a bit of paint, tints and accessory winter 19s from an A7... the aim was an OEM look with just a hint of menace:



The wheels were a great find, they are the same 8" width as it should have, but the offset is 10mm different (like having a 10mm spacer). I'd love to say there is no rubbing but that would be a lie, the left front sometimes catches the plastic arch and needs to be trimmed. However, the stance directly from behind is really good, the standard wheels are so tucked-in. I chose a slightly oversize 45 profile rather than 40 to maintain ~100mm of sidewall, the speedo is bang-on reality rather than under-reading. I have a set of 18s to refurb for winter but haven't got around to it.

Oh and of course it might have had a remap along the way whistle

It is truly Jekyll and Hyde... the change in character from Allroad mode through wafty floaty comfort to Sport + Dynamic is really good, akin to what Land Rover do on their supercharged models. Adaptive damping and air is a great combination.

Most of the time I leave it in Drive + Automatic and it floats over speed bumps beautifully; Sport + Dynamic is much better for "making progress" but is still comfortable. On Eagle F1s it grips well, it's not sporty but as long as you make sure the front end is dug in then the 40:60 torque split feels satisfyingly neutral when you pour on the power out of a bend.

Jobs to do:
- Auto box oil change and the box remapped, it's a bit too lazy in D and too aggressive in S (e.g. it won't change to 3rd until 34mph and locks out 6th... driving around town in second gear at 30 is not Allroad behaviour!)
- A pulley swap to maximise bottom-end torque
- Brakes - the armoured version of the C6 used A8 front brakes, I have a set of these to go on (I love parts-bin upgrades like this)
- Track down an annoying high speed vibration, feels like the centre prop shaft mount might be soggy
- Change the headlamps to xenon (bog-standard halogen headlamps on a premium German car, even in 2010, really?!)
- Fit a wireless android auto box of tricks that uses the original screen and enables streaming music

Wish list:
- Black headlining and tan sports interior... German eBay will come good on that front one day biggrin

Overall I was (and still am) a BMW fan and consciously avoided Audi... but I am a fan of the Allroad, even one this old.

I saw, I assume even rarer V8 petrol last week. First petrol Allroad I've seen. I used to have a C6 2.7 TDI Allroad, quite liked it but had issues, got a refund. Moved on.

What's the output of the 3.0T compared to the V8? Can the V8 be tuned like the 3.0 turbo or is it N/A?

Just picked up my new to me 2015 A6 Allroad 3.0 BiTdi as a family wagon. Really nice 200km drive home, it's quiet but quick and really comfortable. The car's in lovely condition, 54,000km on the clock from an 84 yr old retired lawyer who owned it from new and has just received his new Polestar2.

It's pretty nicely specced, standard 18s, electric sports comfort heated seats, keyless, radar, Bose, better MMI+, privacy glass and auto boot lid.



I've started messing around, upgraded the MMI+ using the 3663 AIO(All in one) solution thanks to Mr_Fix on YouTube, hello CarPlay. It's a bit clunky using the Audi wheel and buttons but is way more modern than my other cars.
Next I tackled Maps, I downloaded the 2023 VW maps straight from there servers. It should be really easy for most after the AIO upgrade but for NZ cars needed an extra FEC code added to the patch. Now it has the 2023 Maps.

I phoned a friend who is into VWs and luckily he has a VCDS so next it will be a bit of coding. I can not believe the passenger side mirror does not dip on reverse.

I'm really happy with my purchase, I am looking forward to many years and km of motoring.

I’ve recently brought my MMI+ equipped AllRoad in to the new age with CarPlay- but have to say when I had the SIM and Audi Connect / Online the navigation, searching for destinations and wheel buttons set up was much better and easier to read esp with the steering binnacle set to junctions view and the screen as maps.
I find it a piss take it costs circa £15 a month to stay with this in the Audi Eco-system hence intro of CarPlay

Enjoy the BTdi, comfortable size alloys too smile

I bought my Allroad approved used from a main dealer and paid for Carplay to be installed before I picked it up; IIRC it was about £300 from them. I'm not sure if Mr Fix was doing his thing then; I wasn't aware of him so would have saved the money and done it myself. Since I didn't buy this one new I've never had Google Maps working in it, and my previous Allroad had the basic nav, Carplay is a massive improvement compared to that. The resolution of the standard maps in the MMI+ nav screen isn't great and I've been a complete convert to Carplay for a while anyway.

Regarding the passenger mirror dipping in reverse, I'm sure it should if you have memory seats. You need to make sure the rotary knob for the mirror adjustment is pointing the correct way, which from memory is towards the passenger side mirror. Does mean you can't leave it on the heating setting all the time, of course.

Welcome - nice car and with adaptive cruise!

On my previous post about the armrest, I have fixed it by following the instruction of a Russian chap on YouTube by drilling a small hole to then be able to push the mechanism back into action. All good. Well, I drilled two holes but they're hidden now the armrest's back down!
