Was going to bite the bullet after your post, went in and it's bloody discontinued by the looks of it.
I know, we spotted that at the weekend and I resorted to childlike stamping of feet in the aisle.

Had to settle for a litre of vodka and a freezer pizza alternative.

Tried this... Actually pretty decent for a quick 15 min, one dish frozen meal.

Had this a few nights ago, it's good. Not sure it's for 2 people though unless you've got some other sides.. Or you're a borrower.

I also added a chicken skewer from Ice Land to bulk the chicken out abit as its a little stingy. But good.

Trouble I find with Aldi and Lidl is if you find something you like and return to buy more they have changed the supplier or the recipe.

Tried the chickpea pasta from ALDI. Once i cooked it i tasted it so it was the right texture...I immediately threw it in the bin.

Tastes like cardboard, thankfully I had some regular pasta which I cooked instead.
All chickpea pasta is like this. The red lentil ones arent so bad

I tend to take much on here with a pinch of salt, though I do shop from time to time at both Aldi and Lidl (prefer the latter and go there if I fancy fresh bread), however damn that pizza is good. Not sure if it is my supermarket fave but will get another at some point. Also got the Steak Out version to try.
Well just tried the Steak Out version and not sure I will finish it. Not a good pizza at all. Over-arching taste of honey and mustard along with chewy pieces of beef which feel like they were part boiled before being cut up.

Has anyone noticed how the taste of the speciality crisps at Aldi differ by who cooks them. I know it says "hand cooked" which probably means someone turning on the machine.

I thought it was in my head but every time I've had bags cooked by dillip it's full of flavour like he's emptied the whole tub of seasoning on them.

I compared them to ones cooked by sanjay and his are tasteless.

I've got two bags or sea salt and chardonnay vinegar one cooked by each and they don't even taste like the same crisp.

Anyone else had this?

Sanjay is a bd and is nicking the seasoning, allegedly. I cant say I've paid that much attention but you have my interest.

I feel a field trip to Aldi to buy some crisps on the horizon. Will report back.

Oh, that's disappointing. I saw them when I was stocking up on American Hot at the weekend and wondered whether they were worth a go, I think that's a relatively new release.

I didn't know you could see a name but they too often taste very oily and smelly. I forgot about this having not bought them for a while and recently bought some. They were disgusting. Had to throw them away

Lidl:

Their Hortus rhubarb and ginger gin is something else, and their pastrami is stonkinly good.

I like Lidl - as long as you freeze the meat and fish immediately and eat the veg within a day or so, it's absolutely fine - and it's so bloody cheap.

I'm not so keen on Aldi.

Yep. It's literally rotting in the bag on day of purchase.

I feckin' hate Aldi/Lidl veg. I don't buy it.

It has JIT down to a fine art.

Eat today (if you're lucky) or don't bother.

I go to the grocer's on the High Street (expensive) or Morrisons.

I find its hit or miss. Other day I bought some chillies, day later open them and as you say already rotting. Other stuff I have bought and its fine a week later.

I bought some ripen at home avocados from Morrisons and THREE WEEKS later you can still use them as anti tank shells.

I like Morrisons tbh although I've found that if you stick to their own cheap brand, Waitrose is a pleasant place to shop and not that dear.

I no longer buy fruit or veg from Aldi or Lidl, with the exception of peppers .They are invariably rotting on the shelf or do so within a day or so of purchase.....bananas are always bruised once peeled.
Morrisons are far better and not much difference in price

I wouldn't buy any fresh food, been let down too many times. Some decent frozen items though.

Was on my way to homebase to buy a few plants today and seen a large display of plant trolleys outside lidl. Drove past for a rubber neck, looked interesting so I parked up. Most of the plants were in excellent condition bar the odd one, so bought 6 plants and was on my way. Much better value than a homebase and the local garden centers. Very happy with that chance encounter.

These are new in Aldi and, as I've discovered, more addictive than the fully loaded salt and vinegar peanuts.

Think it reAlly depends on the branch the veg at our Lidl isn't bad at all but the soft fruit is usually mouldy

But the Alexandra new potatoes are superb imho great tasting things
