Hope Hicks testifying now - not looked at trump at all

Hicks just testified that Trump wrote everything or reviewed/authorised what Dan Scavino wrote...

Personally I think (and hope) he can't win any of the cases (unless ruled by a corrupted SCOTUS), or the election. Apparently elections are won/lost on the swing-states, and he's busy pissing those off IMO.
The SCOTUS ruling won't impact the current case. There is plenty of room for the defense to introduce reasonable doubt in this case (hush money). The legal commentary around this case has always been that it is the weakest case against Trump.

He is polling strongly on key issues.

I think Democrats are sleep walking into disappointment.

Gregs, you are probably right. However one point, the case is not about hush money, but business fraud. If he'd just paid it himself out of cash, there'd be no case.

Agreed. Considering the cash they have on hand, I hope there is some master strategy about to get unleashes because right now they don't feel like they are fighting.

Early days yet. GOP are infighting, trumps tied up with court cases and is about to become a criminal and found guilty of further business fraud.
Abortion is killing the Republicans with the floating voters

There's no huge slush fund for the Dems, remember trump spent a fortune of others money in 2016, but is currently skint. You can push the message after the current trump fraud trial, just to avoid trumps false claims all his problems are Bidens fault etc.

trump continuing a fine tradition of promising to testify and then failing to do so, his fourth a row after the Muller investigation and then the two Carroll cases, this time by claiming that the gag order prevents him from testifying, which of course it doesn't.

As above, trump confirmed to reporters when challenged that it doesn't, then Judge Merchan directly pointed out to him it doesn't...

Meanwhile Hope Hicks is saying she's paying for her own lawyers - no trump control there

Hope Hicks testified she reported directly to trump, he was fully involved in the denials. trump was in charge of messaging, she said, noting, "He knew what he wanted to say and how he wanted to say it. We were all following his lead.”

She read the Hollywood access tape "Grab them by the pussy" as did trump with her
They were in full panic mode over it

I still think he will somehow win the election (and don’t think any legal trouble will stop him getting to it).

Then all bets are off. He will just pardon himself for everything he’s ever done.

Never wanted to be wrong more in my life lol

But then of course, as the testomony of the trump campaign thinking they were finished after the "Access Hollywood" tape. the very same day, Wikileaks began daily releases of thousands of Dem emails stolen by Russia.

"Russia if you're listening..."

Just got a "business briefing circular" at work. Long story short, a trump win would be chaos, biggest concern is tit for tat trade wars. (Like the last time)

trumps not happy. Full all caps rant on TS about the judge, witch hunt, crooked judge, case should never have been brought, 8 years old story etc...
https://www.rawstory.com/trump-judge-juan-merchan-...

It's going so badly for him, that one expert thinks he's trying to get himself jailed for breaking the gag order to get the trial delayed. He knows all the scandal is killing his chances.

Admission by trump that he hushed up the stories because that would have affected the election...

6:01pm - Trump inspects pizza

Truth Social’s accounting firm has just been shut down and fined $14M by the SEC for “massive fraud”.
The SEC accused BF Borgers of “deliberate and systemic failures,” including “fabricating” audit documentation and falsely representing to clients its work would comply with accounting standards.

The agency described this as “massive” fraud taking place between January 2021 and June 2023 that impacted more than 1,500 SEC filings and more than 500 public companies.

trump media have said they are looking for a new company
https://edition.cnn.com/2024/05/03/business/trump-...
Just came in to post this, I think this could be a big issue for TS as who in their right mind being a top accounting firm would have trump as a client, not many so all he is left with a dodgy firm wanting to make a name for themselves.

Hope Hicks basically testified that trump lied to her, told her Cohen had made the payment to protect trump from false allegations, never told anyone about it, and did it out of the goodness of his own heart.

She said she knew that wasn't true because she knew Cohen “I did not know Michael to be an especially charitable or selfless person; he is a kind of person who seeks credit,”

Yeah saw that. He jumped off the cliff years ago and is now stuck on the grifter circuit.

I know that some call him a traitor, which may be a little harsh, but I do wonder how someone who had such a long career in the military was able to go so far down the rabbit hole. He really believes in all of the conspiracies.... all of them....

Starting to get to the bigger magamob sentances

Prosecutors want 140 months in jail for magamob member Leo Bozell, asking for a terrorism enhancement and citing his “outsize” impact on the violence.

He's the son of conservative advocacy group Media Research Center founder Brent Bozell, already found guilty of ten counts, 5 felonies

Hope Hicks exhibit

Hicks testified that trump knew of the Cohen payoff scheme to Daniels. that he knew that the money was for Daniel's silence, not for the claimed legal fees for ongoing legal work by Cohen.

She pulled apart trumps claims, that Cohen had gone rogue and did it on his own, his further lie that he didn't know about it or only learnt about it after it happened, or that the money paid to Cohen was a justified business expense for legal work.

Her testimony pulled apart all the lies trump tried as a defence.

Edit: Pointing out thats why Hicks cried. She realised she'd backed up the prosecution evidence
