Here we go - first of four sessions that matter this weekend...

Max to P1, CLC to crash some more.
Charles got a lap in. Baby steps.

His first lap he nearly lost it though - dear god. Assuming he doesn't ruin his car, he is actually looking pretty speedy here.

Mercs absolutely nowhere. Nice to see Danny Ric has finally joined the party.

It really is. And both drivers separated by next to nothing which suggests both were getting the best out of it, even allowing for pushing it beyond it's limit. That was the best it could do here...

Pfft.

I expect the door will be revolving at Mercedes this summer a bit! Another failed upgrade.

Hard to see if they've bought upgrades or downgrades for the weekend

They just don't seem to be making any progress. Gone backwards a little since last year and the confident noises seem to have stopped too. Heads seem to be down at present. Maybe they'll do better in some of the euro climate races but I have my doubts. Looking like another season to forget already.

On the plus side. McLaren looking very spicy again and great seeing DR back in the mix.

Whichever it is, at least it looks like both drivers got the same 'benefit'..

I assume that at this point Merc are putting quite a bit towards the 2026 effort - they've irrecoverably screwed up this regs era so... I think they won't do anything remotely interesting this season or next.

Defiitely good to see something from DR! I swear that guy used to be a great F1 driver..

That new chassis seems to be working nicely for Dan.

Jesus. Max not able to believe that he made a bunch of minor errors and still beat the rest of the field.

Even he can't believe how quick he is in that car.

They can't do anything on the 26 car design until next year, it's not allowed.

This is all they have, not good.
