Having nearly completed a body lift to sort out the outriggers and chassis I am about to fix the body back on the chassis.

The 14 bolts that secure the underside to the chassis have penny washers on the body side and smaller washers under the steel corner fillets then captive nuts so why are spring washers also needed? Both the replacement bolt kit from TVRSSW ( excellent supplier) and the originals incuded spring washers.

My thoughts was/is that IF the Aerotight nuts on the chassis (as they are welded on) fail, the spring washers will stop the bolt from backing off. A@

Thanks Adrian,
Of course I was forgetting that the nuts that were originally spot welded to the chassis were not captive , as the replacements are captive I probably dont need the spring washers now.

Any chance I could get you to post a pic of your T5 shifter post & attachment point on the top of the transmission?
My stick is simply loose & turning and I can't see in there with the body on and being such a tight space.
I'm not sure what holds the stick in place to stop it from turning & being very "loose"......
Any advice and/or pics would be a great help!

I have just seen the excellent photos on the Chimera pages,THey are far better than I could have achieved with the body just 10" above the chassis.

I just had all the tunnel off on the chimaera doing the handbrake cable. Have a skip through my video & see if it helps.

P.S Mine is a 2001 MK3 with the T5 gearbox.
