Garage Extension Plan Help
Discussion
Looking for some help as we are going round in circles with potential options.
Currently in a home which meets all our needs apart from the garage. Currently have a single garage which is 3m x 6m, but double skin so far too narrow to use. I am looking for enough space to be able to work on one car or store two.
We have looked at every option, but struggling to make a decision. Current options per image below
Option One :
Current layout
Option Two:
Architects plan. Get's a 6m x 6m garage and a large 3m full width extension to the house. We don't need the house extension, but architect advised we may as well put it into the plans.
I like the garage space, but this will give a crazy long driveway and involves loosing a lot of garden to driveway. The plans aren't fully to scale as you can see from the drone shot.
Option Three:
My current thinking. Essentially extend the width to 5 or 5.5m and make 7m long. Move back 2m to avoid blocking light into downstairs kitchen, and allow for a 3m garage door to be fitted avoiding tight entrance.
I am thinking this is the lowest cost option to get a good size garage and not lose too much garden.
Option Four:
Anything I am missing?
Appreciate any thoughts or alternative suggestions.

Obviously option 2 looks the best. Please can you put some context into the picture - which way is North, an idea of the surroundings and topography, and any neighbouring big things (buildings, trees etc.) outside your boundaries. Also, what do you as a family want - will you be loosing a valued garden bed or food growing area?
I would be inclined to not push the new garage all the way back to the rear boundary unless there was a compelling reason to do so.

Food growing???? We're in the UK, the garden will be a bog for 50% of the year.
My critique.
Option 2
My critique.
Option 2
- Lose the pillar, it will be a pain in the ass.
- Do you have 2 cars that you want to garage all the time? If not, a slightly wider single roller shutter door with working space is better than squeezing 2 cars in imho.
- Side access door, as option 3 to save opening the massive roller shutter all the time. Or stuff it on the side at the front.
- Plans don't demonstrate the options properly as your back fence isn't square to the drive. You need to draw it out properly to scale to really see what you're working with.
- What style roof, how high?

What's the garage for? Working on cars, storing them, general workshop/DIY/hobbies?
A possible Option 4 is a 2 car tandem garage, less flexible than side by side but fks up the garden less so may win favour with the rest of the household.
This is what I was going to suggest, a double length garage, definitely more of a faff compared to a double width garage but takes less width of the garden.A possible Option 4 is a 2 car tandem garage, less flexible than side by side but fks up the garden less so may win favour with the rest of the household.
