People are too quick to send their oldies away to care homes.
People should be looking after their oldies at home whether that’s in their own home or moving in with mum. Many cultures take the responsibility to care for their elderly within the family circle whereas the British way is to cart them off to a home, forget about them and then complain about the fees and subsequent lack of inheritance.
Yep, totally agree with that.People should be looking after their oldies at home whether that’s in their own home or moving in with mum. The way I see this is that life expectancy is almost entirely driven by lifestyle factors.
Aside from well understood hereditary conditions the quality and longevity of your time on earth is down to how you live.
As a result the life expectancy for the poor is shorter, in many cases unjustly so.
Given we already accept this state of affairs then surely it's no massive leap of the imagination to simply legalise euthanasia and 'if you can't pay we take you away' to paraphrase a daytime TV program.
All joking aside what cannot happen in a country with:
1) Acknowledged demographic issues.
2) Intergenerational wealth equality issues.
3) A Ponzi scheme welfare state where a growing number of recipients will draw from a smaller and smaller pool of contributors.
4) A country where No.3 is a quasi religion where no discussion of reform will be brooked.
...is to allow the wealth hoarded and accumulated to be ring fenced for the few while the bulk of people, some actually having to care for their own parents who can't afford care homes, are paying the taxes to subsides this.
It must be the only fair thing that your accumulated wealth is used to contribute towards your care. If we don't think this is right then why is income tax graduated on a sliding scale? Why is wealth (especially un-earned wealth) not taxed like income?
I am 46 years old and am making my financial planning on the basis that there will be no state pension, no inheritance and I will not be eligible to draw my private pensions until I am 70.
Why should we, who have had the previous generation pull up the ladder at every opportunity, from house prices to university to tax reliefs on mortgages and defined benefit pensions let them further benefit from my toil.

That Israel May as well crack on and finish the job now they’re 90% into it.
90% into it? Pretty much every person they kill stands to radicalize 2 more, so to wipe out hamams they've basically got to wipe out everyone. They've got 95% to go, or they could quit while they're behind.

The UK will have an epidemic of poor eyesight in 10/20 years time because everyone now reads everything on a tiny device. I'm surprised the medical profession haven't remarked on it.
Not the world? I was thinking similar but about back/neck issues from tilting head forward more often.e-honda said:

But the way I see it is that Hamas are an enemy to the Palestinians as well as the Israelis. As people keep pointing out. So surely it’s in the Palestinians interest to have them wiped out now totally, rather than leave a small continent to eventually regroup and start lobbing bombs at Isreal again, and thus have Isreal storm in and level the place again in self defence. They've got 95% to go, or they could quit while they're behind.

I like when they put 'Behold' at the beginning of a car article. It makes me want to look at the car. When they put 'Re' it makes me think it's just gonna be boring technical details.
"Here for sale is.." or "Here we have..." at the beginning of For Sale ads really boils my piss.e-honda said:
