Lovely but unless they've overhauled their security I won't be having another since my SVR got lifted last month from my drive.
I'm never likely to be able to afford one, and I like them. But its this theft thing that would wind me up too much. Same as any fast RS Audi!Unless I lived on a massive plot in the middle of nowhere, with garages and electric gate where the scallies are less likely to bother travelling to.
Great car. Has a 2019 SVR. Theft is an issue. Had mine stolen and recovered it because left an Apple AirTag in it. Depending on where you live this and insurance cost can be a turn off. Putting that aside, it’s a great all rounder. Comfy, most plush ride on a high performance SUV, reasonable (in context) and a cracking supercharged V8 which sadly won’t be around for long.

…the F-pace sounds better, is far more practical and is a lot smaller than the XJ - like it might actually fit into a parking space…
The F Pace is still a fairly large vehicle - at 2m wide, it can be awkward to open the doors in a standard parking space, especially if you’re trying to unload kids. Ours has a full-size spare wheel that eats up boot space, as does the sloping roofline, so the boot isn’t as practical as that of an estate car. As an existing Jaguar owner the biggest issue is the lack of an decent dealer for after sales and servicing.
If I was spending £100k on an SUV I’d sadly be taking my money to the nearest German rival.
Jaguar could offer the best vehicle in the world but the shocking after sales service would still count it out for me.

Believe me, the XJ is bigger! 5.1m long and 2m wide vs 4.8m and 2m for the f pace. Boot also will be more practical than the XJ owing to having folding seats and a higher load height.
That’s a monster! The ridiculous length is why we discounted an M6 Gran Coupe and the XJ has another 10cm on the BMW. I hadn’t realised how wide they are - I suppose the length disguises the width.

SVR the perfect daily for me, quick, sounds superb, not overly massive, relatively discreet.
Indeed spot on. The styling of these is much easier on (my) eyes than the range rover equivalents, and certainly much nicer than the German fast SUVs.An that engine, wont be around much longer, absolute gem of a thing!

Correction - it's 1.9m wide.
Just looking on Autotrader (uh oh!) there's one for £27k because it's got 144k miles. I've never personally been concerned about high miles as long as service history and car condition suggests it's been looked after! In fact my XJ was 5 years old when I bought it with 118k miles and it's on 133k now and is still in great shape.
This is getting dangerous for me now!

Quite possibly. Although the new engine shows the old stager has not perhaps moved with the game.
It's not like the supercharged V8 was ever accused of lacking power or anything, but the difference between the engines in ostensibly similar cars is jaw-dropping.
Not really jaw-dropping. Probably about what you'd expect for a 60bhp increase in a car with 10year newer technology? It's not like the supercharged V8 was ever accused of lacking power or anything, but the difference between the engines in ostensibly similar cars is jaw-dropping.
I was very fortunate to spend a few hours at the JLR test track near Kenilworth last summer, hooning (in a controlled way) around in F Pace SVR, F Types with V8’s of different power levels etc .... absolutely brilliant! I hadn’t considered an F Type prior to this point, but now it’s one of those cars that I feel I really must have before they’ve gone. The guys at the track said that the supercharged v8 is so much more characterful than the replacement, and at that time , the supply of the new turbo engines wasn’t as plentiful as needed . Maybe another reason for the old stager to be still around?
Must totally agree with PhilkSVR
Have had 3 of the SVRs, brilliant handling and comfort and every day enjoyment
Life is just too short to ponder…
Really worried JLR are making a huge mistake going 100% battery !
If any changes to be made from current, go hydrogen - EVs are rapidly losing their ‘credibility’

Technology is still, viably, decades away though for mass adoption. If any changes to be made from current, go hydrogen - EVs are rapidly losing their ‘credibility’
