Is strongmanning a sport? Bit more entertainment I would say. Anyway I have all day to do the backwards forwards thing so crack on but this thread is more for serious chat.
this old chestnutsport - you compete against your opponent directly in real time and can affect them competition.
game - turn/skill based or compete but cannot directly affect your opponent
thats my in a nutshell view so strongman events are not sport.

Well its a huge conversion I think theres a lot more to being a boxer than a strongman. A lot of the guys in the Gym I used to go to just had steroids for breakfast but were in the pub all afternoon. Granted they could lift but they were extremely unfit and very fat! Not saying that what the elite level of strongman is but I'm saying I suspect there is a lot more to our noble sport than there is to strong manning
...and you also see dreadfully out of shape tomato cans used to bolster up and comers records. Comparing two sports will always be apples v orangesEH has lost about 5 stone himself so he's down to a measly 26 stone or so
Thor does look in better shape for boxing but we've all seen fat heavyweights knock out muscle bound opposition....Frank Bruno being a prime example.
Also EH was a competitive swimmer in his younger days and has one of those wave pool things in his garden so he's been working on his stamina.
The so called fights Thor has had weren't against actual boxers were they ?
EH doesn't seem to like keeping his hands up in the clips I've seen.
I'm expecting a lot of holding, grappling and pushing

Bruno was never knocked out. Pedantic maybe, but he was always stopped on his feet. Tremendous fighter, tremendous heart Thor does look in better shape for boxing but we've all seen fat heavyweights knock out muscle bound opposition....Frank Bruno being a prime example.

I'm a EH fan, but body type would have me favour Thor.
He's got natural advantages plus the weight loss will likely suit him more.
But this is likely to turn into a windmill and hug fest.
In which case it's anyone's.
Just watched another series of videos on the 2017 WSM and why they hate each other.
On that topic I think Thor is a sore loser.
The behind the scene elements seem to make that clear.

Some Strongman events you go head-to-head against competitors. There's definitely a psychological aspect when you're struggling to push out another rep and see your competitor next to you is pumping them out - that can directly affect you. Or when doing the carrying events you race against the other competitors.
