Whatever you go for be it for tf or a trackday, read the small print very carefully. Chances are it will only cover your car and not cover liability for damage to other vehicles or damages to infrastructure or persons if you are deemed to be at fault.
Trackday this Roy it's just the car that's insured is my understanding? I think you can get additional cover for the furniture? Looking at the insurance thread and it seems to be a high risk thing right??
Anyway, we're looking to do a bit of a European loop and may stop by the 'ring for a tourist day, can you just buy credits on the day and are they instantly available on your account / QR code?
Is there anything else you need other knowing you're seemingly liable for everything? It's been probably 15 years or so since I've last been so imagine there's a few changes and the website isn't the easiest to get concise info from.
TIA!

Has anyone used any of these GPS apps to help guide round the ring?
I'd never use such a thing to try and do a "fast" lap but it'd be nice to have some idea where the next corner goes given half seem blind.

I'd recommend watching lots of in-car video, and/or driving the circuit in a sim/game...or just drive as if there's a car stopped after every blind corner, and then build up your speed slowly (and watch out for yellow flags, and faster cars approaching) - and stay on the right, as you'll not be going fast enough (even if it feels like you are) to have to use the 'racing line' where it's on the left.
You could also buy the circuit guide if you want...but be aware that it will change slightly every year/season as they re-surface/re-profile the track.

Probably better to get a PS5 or XBox and just do a load of laps... The tourist track has just been released on Forza motorsport, and they'll at least tell you when to go left and when to go right.
Bear in mind that even with the simulated guide lines on, Forza Motorsport is not 100% correct on either line or braking points.Add into that the gradients, cambers, surface changes and bumps and a game is excellent, but nowhere near fully realistic or indicative of lap time.

On Forza I'm alright on the first third, then patchy up to the carousel, and then it all is all guess work... So a good reminder to go slowly and treat it like a B road filled with nutters!

The safest way to get as familiar as possible is to do lots of PAX laps firstI'd never use such a thing to try and do a "fast" lap but it'd be nice to have some idea where the next corner goes given half seem blind.
Some people criticise me for saying that, but I can't understand why

You may also find, as I did, there's the odd bit where, wierdly, because you've seen so mamny videos and played so many games, you feel extremely comfortable first lap. Foxholes, for me, was that.
It's the blind crests that do for most and, as you say, knowing what immediately follows is the key.
Ukkid35 is dead right about thepax laps too.
Evening lads..just a few questions if I may. In September I'm gonna take my lad for his first time to the ring. Over the years I've drove over myself but this year I'm going to fly, coming from IRE is just a pain. I was thinking into Frankfurt and rent a car for 3 days , Any recommendations? Something with a bit of pace will be fine 330/D gti or the likes. I seen an M3 for 200ish a day but it's a bit overkill. The next issue is I assume I can't take this car on TF so I'll have to rent a ring car. A Clio, swift or the likes is fine I'm not trackday vet I've sub 20 laps on the ring so big power is wasted on me. Ring freaks or rsr etc ? Then after all this I'll do the museums etc.

Anyone booked the Hull ferry for this year?
WTF is going on with the prices
Yes prices have gone up & service down hill. Friend went to use it 2 weeks ago and they informed him 3 days before the crossing it was cancelled (yet it was on the bbc website 2 weeks before saying the same) They would move the crossing but no compensation not a thing - exactly like when they sacked the staff...............WTF is going on with the prices
I was on it last week. About £100 more a crossing now, brasserie prices are ALOT more and the food is terrible. The cafe / costa bar now sells pizzas which is rammed as used the most now.
Still handy crossing but prices up, staff still crap and even more so dont care now. 2023 prices went up a bit but did have a few offers on but for 2024 no early bird booking nothing.

Have booked two trips on the Hull ferry this year, one in May for a Ring trip and one in August for a family holiday, prices are really high this year and no discounts available, in the past they have done a discount in January but it didn't come this year. WTF is going on with the prices
I live in Leeds but if it continues next year I may go down to Dover and cross into France instead.
